MSN Calls Telescope “Homophobic”
The James Webb Space Telescope is making waves in more ways than expected. Those with an intense victim mentality, swiftly aggravated by contrary opinions, seek to erase any trace of people who disagree with them — even people who are long dead.
News services featured amazing pictures from deep space last week, including some galaxies pictured 13 billion years ago — not long after the Big Bang.
The incredible images were captured by the James Webb Space Telescope — and therein lies the problem, according to MSN.
The James Webb Space Telescope, you see, is homophobic.
Offensive
No, I’m not making this up. MSN ran an article headlined:
Homophobic Telescope Reveals First Hi-Res Images of Deep Space
It lamented that:
Despite this remarkable achievement for science, the JWST continues to stand as a bitter reminder of our country’s willingness to tolerate and even memorialize queerphobia.
The telescope’s namesake, James Webb, apparently oversaw the ‘Lavender Scare’ during his tenure as NASA’s second administrator in the 1950s.
The Lavender Scare was a McCarthy-era moral panic in which suspected queer employees were exposed and purged from government positions.
And so, the James Webb Space Telescope is “homophobic”.
Personally, I think this is a deeply telephobic take. How do we even know it identifies as a telescope?
And someone needs to advise MSN that the telescope is queerphobic, not homophobic. Transphobes!
Confected Outrage
According to MSN, 1700 people have signed a petition to change the name of the telescope.
I haven’t signed the petition, but I certainly will not be looking at the sky until the telescope is cancelled.
Seriously, does anyone really believe a telescope can be homophobic?
Next thing you know, telescopes will be getting pregnant!
And does anyone care? After all, in space no one can hear you queen.
If only the editorial team at MSN could use the telescope to gaze inward!
