Teals Want to Lower the Voting Age

1.3 MINS

Would you trust your teenager with the budget?

Teal politician Dr Monique Ryan wants parliament to let 16-year-olds vote.

As the parent of twin teenagers, I can attest that this is a terrible idea. I wouldn’t trust 16-year-olds to get the ingredients for a chicken sandwich right.

And Ryan wants us to let people who don’t know their ass from their elbow decide fiscal, energy and defence policy?

It’s a scientific fact that — for boys at least — the brain is not fully developed until age 25.

In Teals, it takes even longer.

Bad Idea

The member for Kooyong tweeted this week:

“I’ve been meeting with colleagues across the parliament to discuss allowing 16 and 17 year olds the right to vote, to have their say in the decisions made about their future. What do you think about lowering the voting age?”

Why don’t we let our kids finish school where they learn about drag queens and gender fluidity and structural racism and global warming and gay rights and the benefits of socialism before bombarding them with political propaganda?

I suspect that if the left succeeds in its campaign to give kids the vote, they will next campaign to extend the voting day to voting weeks, allowing them to keep counting votes until they win.

Extended Adolescence

Far from lowering the voting age, I think they should raise it.

Most 18-year-olds still live with mummy and daddy and haven’t earned a cent in their lives.

Most 19-year-olds are still trying to work out whether they’re a man or a woman.

Teenagers are impulsive, emotional and not many of them are fully independent — like Teals.

Me: “So who will you vote for?”

16-year-old: “The Greens”

Me: “Why?”

16-year-old: “I like trees”

If the voting age is lowered, expect lefties to be handing out lollies outside polling booths at the next election.

Western civilisation is all a bit of a joke to the Teals.

Of course they want to lower the voting age – then they will continue to teach our youth that anyone who practices tough love, or dares to say no is a racist bully. In this way they can continue to seduce ( literally) youth into believing that they should follow their feelings rather than reap the benefits of learning self discipline as they travel into adulthood.
