Seven Network Exposes Transgender Regret in ‘De-Transitioning’ Documentary
Is sanity making a comeback? Over the weekend, Australia’s highest-rating news service shone a spotlight on transgender regret.
On Sunday night, the Seven Network exposed the phenomenon of transgender regret in a 7NEWS Spotlight documentary titled ‘De-Transitioning’.
Broadcast nationwide on Channel 7 and 7plus at 8.45pm, the hour-long program was slated as “the most controversial story this year”. A trailer shared days earlier on X, formerly Twitter, generated millions of views and many re-posts by high-profile users.
The show’s departure from popular LGBT narratives, on Australia’s highest-rating news service no less, has many pundits asking whether “the dam is breaking” on transgender ideology.

Transgender Regret According to Chloe Cole
‘De-Transitioning’ was hosted by reporter Liam Bartlett, who used refreshingly straightforward language in describing the surgeries and other irreversible treatments being given to children in the name of medical care.
Among Bartlett’s interviewees was Chloe Cole, a Californian teenager who believed social media messaging about transgenderism and began breast-binding and puberty blockers by age 13. She underwent a double mastectomy at age 15.
Having since ‘de-transitioned’, Cole is now an outspoken critic of the ‘affirmation model’ of which she was a victim, and that remains the status quo across most of the Western world.
An Interview with Dr Dylan Wilson
7NEWS Spotlight has published on its YouTube channel three extended interviews that featured on ‘De-Transitioning’.
The first is a nine-minute conversation with Queensland paediatrician Dr Dylan Wilson. Last May, Dr Wilson penned an open letter, republished at the Daily Declaration, warning Australian doctors that “children are being surgically mutilated and sterilised,” and urging them to push back against the practice.
In his interview with Liam Bartlett, Dr Wilson was unafraid to speak the truth, telling him, “Reality doesn’t depend on popularity. Humans can’t change sex.” He also explained how transgender ideology has trumped duty of care in his home state:
It’s clear to me that a referral to the gender clinic is a referral to commence medical treatment. It’s not a referral to have an assessment; to consider what’s really going on with the child; to fully explore why the child is expressing this view. It’s a referral to start the treatment.
I’ve asked the gender clinic in Brisbane, how many children do they see who they do not deem suitable candidates for medical treatments, and they will not tell that to me. So as a result, I cannot be confident that I can send a child there and they not receive medical treatment.
An Interview With Professor Ian Hickie
A second, less amicable, interview 7NEWS Spotlight posted to YouTube was with Professor Ian Hickie, Co-Director of Health and Policy at The University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre.
Professor Hickie, who is also an Agenda Contributor at the World Economic Forum, was the only specialist willing to speak with Liam Bartlett about the de-transitioning phenomenon.
Their ten-minute conversation was, with few exceptions, dominated by Professor Hickie’s barely-disguised anger, and his efforts to deconstruct Bartlett’s questions and interrogate his motives.
By the end of the interview, Professor Hickie had exposed himself as an ardent transgender activist barely clothed in the garb of an academic.
An Interview With Dr Jillian Spencer
The final extended interview from ‘De-Transitioning’ that 7NEWS Spotlight made available on YouTube was with Dr Jillian Spencer, a senior child psychologist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.
Just last week, the Daily Declaration featured an article about Dr Spencer, who was recently suspended from clinical practice at the Queensland Children’s Hospital for questioning the transgender affirmation model. She now faces serious threats to her position, professional career and livelihood, including potential regulatory action. Dr Spencer told Bartlett:
The hospital took the opportunity to remove me from clinical duties on the grounds of being a danger to trans and gender diverse children, because I’ve got a history of expressing concerns about the gender clinic and the hospital and the model they’re using, called the affirmation model.
She explained the inherent dangers of the affirmation model:
When a child with gender dysphoria sits in front of a child psychiatrist or any mental health clinician, they have no way of knowing whether these children are going to persist in their gender dysphoria. And what’s being hidden are the thousands of parents across Australia who are in anguish because they’re very concerned about their child receiving care according to this affirmation model.

The threat of activist trolls has led to 7NEWS Spotlight disabling comments on all of their social media posts about the ‘De-Transitioning’ episode.
Even so, you can still let Seven Network know that you appreciate their honesty and courage by liking and sharing their posts on Facebook and Twitter, and their three YouTube extended interviews.
The full episode is available to watch at the 7plus website, though the Daily Declaration was experiencing technical difficulties loading the video at the time of publication, perhaps due to high levels of interest in the show.
Also be warned that if you do not already have a 7plus account, you need to create one to view the episode, which ironically requires you to declare if you are male, female or non-binary!

Kurt, brilliant! Thank you so much for this uplifting news about a diabolical practice. Just think about the thousands of children already exposed to this transgender idolatry in schools and in their peer groups who have not yet ‘come out’. I pray that this exposure by Channel 7 will truly be the start of a culture wide wake up that shatters the dreams of so many hypnotized teachers.
Thanks Jim. Yes, there are definitely some signs of hope.
Wow! Thanks so much, Kurt, for bringing this to light! The tide WILL turn, I’m sure. It already is in places like Scandinavia, and we know about the “Tavistock” scandal in Britain. The truth WILL out!
We’re a bit slower Down Under but I believe you are right. Even in ultra-woke California there have been some small wins of late :)
While we were streaming it last night it occurred to me that, if someone went to the authorities in Victoria and said that they felt coerced to de-transition, that Seven Network and the two doctors interviewed would be in breach of the “Change and Suppression Act”. Wouldn’t THAT make a great test case!
Thank you Kurt
It is a very rocky practice that mutilates and destroys children’s identity before they can realise or honestly who they really are
Proud of you & Ch 7 for having the courage to expose this medical scandal that is so hidden & hushed
Well done Liam in your interviews
You demanded truth & yet with compassion & brilliant questioning
This will play out in the courts if this evil haste continues
Give the children & early teens the love & care they deserve before rushing to irrevocable change the course of their life
It is barbaric!!!
Well done Kurt & Ch 7
Thanks Lynne. It was very encouraging to see the 7 network cover this topic. Liam was very impressive, especially with the Sydney Uni professor/activist. Hopefully we see more of this in the months and years ahead!
Well done to Channel 7 to airing this show, despite the inevitable backlash from immature activists. The cancel culture is a major threat to free speech. As for detransitioning, it will increase over time. 10 years after there will be more. After 20 years many more and one study after 30 years found that a significant number had died, including from heart disease from women taking testerone.
Also thanks to Kurt for this blog post.
Totally evil practice of mutilation. Thank you Kurt and Channel 7 .
