Compassion a Virtue of Christ in Us

Day 1 – Compassion a Virtue of Christ in Us

21 January 2024

3.7 MINS

“You are always and dearly loved by God! So, robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavour to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others.

Tolerate the weaknesses of those in the family of faith, forgiving one another in the same way you have been graciously forgiven by Jesus Christ. If you find fault with someone, release this same gift of forgiveness to them. For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues. Love becomes the mark of true maturity.” ~ Colossians 3:12-14 TPT

Today as we pray, let us begin by taking a few minutes to saturate our hearts and minds in the love of God. Let us put off every hurt and allow the Lord to show us anyone whom we are still holding unforgiveness towards, or those we struggle to love. Allow His forgiveness to flow through us to others today.

Imagine putting off the clothes we once wore that are now in tatters and receiving the fresh holy robes of the virtues of God. Let us remember we have been divinely chosen to be holy. Let us be merciful, compassionate, gentle, humble, and unoffendable – releasing His supreme love to those of the faith and those still to come into the kingdom.

In our sanctified imaginations, we send that same love to surround every pregnant woman in Australia, every baby in the womb, and every person in that child’s life. Let the love of the Lord bring light and truth to rescue those who are in danger of being aborted. Let His love well up in us and flow out of us like rivers of living water, bringing refreshment and life everywhere we go and in all that we do today.

Worship:

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, Father,
You created us to love, to receive and give love!
Lord, You demonstrated Your love
through giving us Your Son, Jesus — we say thank You!
Lord, may we become mature in love
as Your people, Your body, Your Bride.
Lord, may we be eager to live out Your word in action today –
to robe ourselves with Your virtues.
May we as Your people be merciful, compassionate,
show kindness, tolerate the weaknesses of others, and forgive them.
May the fruit of Your Holy Spirit continue the good work You have begun in us –
that we encounter Your life-changing love, and it may flow out to those around us,
especially those in turmoil over unplanned pregnancies.
Lead us by Your Holy Spirit to make a difference to everyone we meet.
May Your compassion be in us,
and we be moved to bring help and healing actions and words to those in need.
In the name above all names, Yeshua, Jesus our King, Amen.

Prayer Points:

  • It is crucial for Australians to stand united and shout out for the Babies Born Alive through failed abortion to be given life-saving treatment and care and not left to die. Pray for the Senate to vote for the Babies Born Alive Bill. Senator Matt Canavan, Senator Ralph Babet and Senator Alex Antic have co-signed a bill to give babies born alive from abortion a right to life. No More Delay! Let this become a loud election issue for this government. Hear firsthand a midwife’s grief and a Born Alive after a failed abortion story.
  • Pray the Love Adelaide — Walk for Life 2024 on Feb 10th from 10am-12pm will grow in momentum to double last year — that nothing will hinder the church standing against legalised abortion, to add their strength and support to end the abortion crisis in our nation and beyond. Pray for health for everyone, especially the overseas guest speaker, doors of favour to open, more volunteers for the walk and the weather to be favourable.
  • We pray for every state and territory of Australia to recognise that every life is a gift from God — for the church to arise in the cause of defending life in the womb from the horror of abortion and come together to stand for life. For greater numbers to be in attendance at the “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 10 February 2024 and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, “March for the Babies” Melbourne, Perth’s rally for Life in May, and for all Territories and States to join in and hold a Walk for Life in their city/region.
  • Even though every state in Australia has changed Legislation to allow abortion up to birth, we can all work together to change such legislation. It’s all about numbers — Pray that we unify and work together to make abortion unthinkable in Australia. Pray for the number of awakened righteous politicians and leaders in every sphere of influence to increase, and be empowered and emboldened to change the laws and influence this generation with the truth about abortion.
  • Ask for many more churches across the nation to be aware of the women in their midst who are suffering through having had an abortion. To have spiritual discernment to identify women with a crisis pregnancy who need the help, hope and love of Jesus to keep the baby or choose adoption into a loving home. That every church be a trusted place of mercy and compassion to be known and operating as Houses of Refuge for the unborn and families. For Hubs of Love to be established in every city and town in the nation.

‘And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.’
~ Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)

May God Bless you as you pray these 21 Days of Compassion and Mercy for the Unborn.
