– Colossians 1:27
Reflection
The word ‘glory’ is a summary term the Bible uses to describe God’s character and nature. It refers to His presence made visible or manifest. God’s glory, we might say, is the “shining forth” or the “public display” of God’s character and nature.
I was heading to the airport in a taxi. After a summit for prayer leaders of the nation, I was returning home. I sat comfortably in the back seat, expecting a routine trip.
As we drove, the driver struck up a friendly conversation. From his appearance he appeared to be an immigrant from China. He asked what brought me to Sydney. I replied that it was for a meeting. He went on to ask what meeting it was.
I thought this was a bit curious. Nevertheless, I answered him that I was at a prayer gathering. The cab had stopped at a red light and instantly the driver threw both hands in the air and cried out, “I’m a sinner, I’m a sinner… I need Jesus. Please, please, I need Jesus”. Tears were rolling down his eyes.
I was reeling in shock at what had just happened! I got a grip on myself so I could address the man’s desperate cry. I agreed with him that he needed Jesus. I led him in a sinner’s prayer. After a few moments, it struck me that he clearly did know about Jesus.
So, I asked him why he had such sudden conviction. In his broken English, he said he was a child when his family migrated to Australia. He was a Christian when he left China, but now he was far away from God.
The Lord enabled me to share with him about God the Father in heaven and Jesus at His right hand. I told him that he had the Holy Spirit with him every day!
His next question to me was, “Who is the Holy Spirit?” It pierced my heart and has marked me ever since. Many know about the Father and Jesus – but have never known the Holy Spirit. I shared with him about the Holy Spirit.
As we stopped at the airport the cab driver asked for my name and then said, “Miss, God brought you into my cab today!” I agreed! Then I asked him if I could give him a hug because the next time we meet will probably be in eternity.
I walked into the airport and asked the Lord, “What was that all about, in the cab?”
He said, “That is My glory in you.” Beloved, may we all be carriers of Christ’s glory.

Prayer
Holy Father, baptise us afresh with Your Spirit and fire to be filled with Your glory. Help us to hear Your gentle voice. We need to hear You speak to us about those near us who need Your hope.
May the lost soul seeking You find You in the riches of Your glory that You have entrusted us with. Let the knowledge of Your glory in each heart through Your Holy Spirit cover Australia and the nations of the earth. Amen.

The Church is wimpy, and it's destroying the nation. That's the blunt assessment of Rev. Chris Wickland, a UK clergyman who refuses to soften the gospel for perceived cultural acceptance. And he has a point. From the rise of "woke" institutional Christianity to the abdication of prophetic witness, the modern Church has traded its backbone for a desperate attempt to attain a disappearing seat at the table.
