Stand Firm: A Homegrown Aussie Conference on Revival This July
Taking place on July 5th and 6th, Stand Firm Conference 2024 will explore the rich theme of revival in Australia. Every attendee will receive a free copy of Kurt Mahlburg and Warwick Marsh’s recent book ‘Great Southland Revival’.
No desire among Christians is so God-glorifying as the desire for revival.
In revival, the saints are made holy and zealous. The churches are set straight and purified. The ministers repent and preach the Word of God. And the lost are swept into the Kingdom in large number.
At Stand Firm Conference 2024, to be held July 5th to 6th in Brisbane, our topic is revival in Australia.
“Australia has never seen revival”, you’ve no doubt heard. “And we’ve been a secular nation from the beginning.”
These statements are not just historically uniformed — they are symptoms of an intentional rewriting of Australian history. Authors such as Stuart Piggin, Robert Evans, Edwin Orr, and Iain Murray, along with Kurt Mahlburg and Warwick Marsh of the Canberra Declaration, provide overwhelming evidence that neither of these above statements are factual. Not only did Australia begin as a British colony with rich Christian influence, but she also saw many fires of revival spread across the continent.
What to Expect at Stand Firm Conference 2024
Stand Firm Conference 2024 is committed to awakening a desire for revival in Australia’s Bible-believing churches. Revival is in our Scriptures. Revival is in our nation’s past. Revival must be in our future.
The conference will achieve this aim in the following ways:
- Providing informative lectures where attendees will learn about the revivals in Australia’s early history, and the rich spiritual foundation that our forefathers have laid in our nation.
- Arguing for a biblical definition of revival that corrects modern distortions and incorrect assumptions.
- Challenging attendees to recognise the necessary means of revival, for which God’s people are responsible!
- Stirring Christians to pray expectantly for revival in their own local churches.
Every attendee will receive a gift from our sponsor at Ligonier Ministries, valued at over $100. They will also receive Kurt Mahlburg and Warwick Marsh’s book on Australian revival, Great Southland Revival, and a discount for Stand Firm Conference 2025.
We cannot cause the winds of revival to blow, but we can prove that we mean our prayers by keeping our sails ready for the gale.
How Can Australia Welcome Revival Again?
What do you think is the cause of the Australian church’s failure to see revival in recent decades? Is it the freeze-dried formality of our institutional churches? Is it the intellectualism of the Reformed? Could it be the irreverence of seeker-sensitive worship? Or perhaps the false teachings of the liberal churches? Surely, there may be some truth in all of these explanations, but the root cause lies deeper: a failure to believe that the simple preached gospel is pregnant with the Spirit’s almighty power, to save multitudes.
Would it not spell the revival of the church, if she believed and acted again upon this simple truth: the gospel is the power of God unto salvation?
Charles Spurgeon, a gospel preacher and pastor of the 1800s, says it this way:
When the good old truth is once more preached by men whose lips are touched as with a live coal from off the altar, this shall be the instrument, in the hand of the Spirit, for bringing about a great and thorough revival of religion in the land.
May God revive us again.

This will be a conference full of fire.
I recently saw an EPICENTER CONFERENCE on youtube where the speaker was Ann Graham Lotz (daughter of Billy Graham) and I think she was preaching on Joel, but in that sermon she gave a soul-shattering list of what sins we the church need to repent of to see revival – things that we don’t generally think of as sin like libel, selfishness, laziness etc – it’s a great starting place for revival….. as per 2 Chr 7:14
