Day 4: Authority Through Humility
Intention
To awaken us to a greater child-like trust in Jesus, fully surrendered to Him, to enable us to carry His authority with purity, passion and power.
Scripture
“When the seventy missionaries returned to Jesus, they were ecstatic with joy, telling him, ‘Lord, even the demons obeyed us when we commanded them in your name!’
“Jesus replied, ‘While you were ministering, I watched Satan topple until he fell suddenly from heaven like lightning to the ground. Now you understand that I have imparted to you my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority. However, your real source of joy isn’t merely that these spirits submit to your authority, but that your names are written in the journals of heaven and that you belong to God’s kingdom. This is the true source of your authority.’”
– Luke 10:17–20 (TPT)
Reflection
In 2020, I felt the Lord speak to me about two new weapons of warfare that He was releasing to His bride. I sensed they would manifest over the coming decade.
These weapons are (1) increased revelation and (2) increased authority.
I believe we have begun to see an increase in revelation. However, as we approach the second half of this decade, the Lord desires to release a greater anointing of His authority to His bride.
His desire, like ours, is to see a greater fullness of His Kingdom on the earth with signs, wonders and miracles. This will radically shift His Church and the nations into a greater knowledge of His goodness and love and release fires of revival and reformation.
Luke 10:21 goes on to say, “You have hidden the great revelation of this authority from those who are proud, those wise in their own eyes, and you have shared it with those who have humbled themselves. That is what pleases your heart and the very way you have chosen to extend your Kingdom: to give it to those who become like trusting children.”
We all want the power of God to flow through us, but in this passage, it is crystal clear that this authority comes to those with humility and child-like trust.
Our self-life, pride, selfish ambitions and opinions, self-righteous ideas, judgements and ties with the world must be surrendered at the feet of Jesus (1 John 2:15–17).
Surrender means to trust like a child. It means we release ourselves from our opinions and ideas in opposition to God’s wisdom. In dependence on Him, we acknowledge that our strength comes not from ourselves, but by His Spirit.
As we come as little children, with child-like attitudes of acceptance, love, forgiveness and faith, we will be positioned and trusted by the Father to carry a greater anointing of authority.
The world and the Church have gone through and continue to go through a lot of shaking and upheaval (Haggai 2:6–7). Count it all joy as you go through these trials (James 1:2), for they are working a great weight of His glory in us (2 Corinthians 4:17). As we submit to this shaking, God will conform us to Jesus’ image. We seek the likeness of the humble and gentle One, the servant of all (Philippians 2:6–11).
In the pressure and turmoil, come into a place of greater dependency on – and surrender to – Jesus.
In this humility and dependency, the Lord can impart the greater authority that comes with a child-like faith fully surrendered and humbled to His will and ways (Luke 10:21).
When we live in child-like trust, His Spirit can release the fire of His presence, purity, passion and power to be transformed and be transformers with great authority to impact lives and nations.

Prayer
Dear Lord,
We choose to run to you amid the shaking. Awaken us to a greater trust and the faith of a little child, surrendered fully to You, free from our agendas and the ways of this world.
We surrender to your refining process and humble ourselves before a mighty God.
Prepare us to be conformed to Jesus’ image, carrying the authority of Christ with power over all the power of the enemy to revive our families, communities and nations!
Amen.
