Contrary to AP News, DEI is dead, and it died at the hands of common sense, not just “conservative activism”.

Corporations are abandoning the Marxian Woke race-gender-queer critical theory practice in droves.

The latest in a growing line of defectors is Target America.

In a fact sheet issued 4-days ago, the American company said it would be “concluding its DEI goals” and its Black Lives Matter initiatives (known as REACH).

Additionally, Target will be discontinuing its relationship with “America’s largest LGBTQ+ lobby group, Human Rights Campaign (HRC).”

Target said it will be stopping “all external diversity-focused surveys, including HRC’s Corporate Equality Index.”

HRC offers training in DEI.

They also measure a company’s level of compliance with LGBTQ+ism through what it calls a Corporate Equality Index.

There are five criteria.

One criterion includes enforcing a gender-neutral dress code and forcing women to accept men in female-only spaces.

HRC’s LGBTQ+ equivalent of a social credit score also requires corporations to openly promote homosexuality, recruit, give money, or donate goods to LGBTQ+ organisations or events.

The lobby group’s stated goal is to “transform institutions and systems so as to advance LGBTQ+ inclusive policies and practices.”

Merit vs Discrimination

Target’s “Belonging to the Bullseye” strategy is a return to merit-based hiring practices.

These new goals replace the DEI quota system of hiring based on melanin and “minority” status.

Contributing to Target’s shift away from the Socialist grift, the company went woke, and very nearly went broke.

In 2023, Target pushed a LGBTQ+ clothing propaganda line on kids.

Consequently, parents boycotted stores.

Target “lost $10 billion in market valuation between May 18 and May 23, 2023”.

This turned into a $25-billion-dollar loss between May and October.

The DEI backfire also triggered a major lawsuit from shareholders against the board of directors and the company.

According to America First Legal (AFL), a Florida district court refused to dismiss the case in December, stating that Target “violated federal securities laws”.

AFL “alleges that Target failed to adequately disclose the risk of consumer backlash to the corporation’s LGBT ‘Pride Month’ marketing and sales campaign.”

Commenting on the DEI case, AFL’s senior vice president, Reed Rubinstein, said it was a warning to all managers who would,

“use shareholder resources, including consumer goodwill, to advance idiosyncratic and extreme social or political preferences.

“The risk of ESG mandates and DEI initiatives, such as Target’s ‘Pride Month‘ that targeted young children, cannot be whitewashed with boilerplate language or ignored.”

As the lawsuit recalls, Target’s flamboyant use of people’s money to placate LGBTQ+ lobby groups – or fit in with the trend – began in 2015.

Seemingly convinced they were “on the right side of history”, management ignored repeated warnings.

These warnings came from conservatives, shareholders, and consumer groups, who said that ‘ESG, DEI and LGBT initiatives would cause the company to lose customers.’

DEI, CRT, ESG redistribute hard-earned profits to Wokeshevists, while it sends workers broke.

They are litigation landmines laid down by far-left extremists for two reasons, and two reasons only: money and power.

Target appears to have learned that dancing with these devils results in death by a thousand cuts.
