100 Prominent Australians Urge Prime Minister to Launch Immediate Inquiry Into Child Gender Transitions
The letter’s authors — including former PM Tony Abbott and former deputy PM John Anderson — warned that the use of so-called gender-affirming care was a “potential public health disaster of generational significance”.
In the wake of the Cass Review and the WPATH scandal, more than 100 prominent Australian doctors, lawyers, academics and detransitioners have called on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to halt the chemical and surgical mutilation of children nationwide and conduct an urgent public inquiry into the practice.
“Recent developments globally have exposed serious concerns about the ‘gender-affirming’ approach to treating gender-confused youth,” the two-page letter reads, adding, “there is now a bipartisan consensus in many countries that major changes to practice in this area are needed”.
Among the signatories were former prime minister Tony Abbott, former deputy prime minister John Anderson, Queensland child psychiatrist Jillian Spencer, former Liberal candidate Katherine Deves, and outspoken medical doctor Dr Julie Sladden.
‘Potential Public Health Disaster’
The letter’s authors warned that the use of so-called gender-affirming care was a “potential public health disaster of generational significance,” explaining:
Medical interventions including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries can cause irreversible harm, including physiological damage (bone density loss, infertility, sexual dysfunction), issues concerning brain development and social and relational difficulties.
While lifelong impacts are yet to be fully understood, regret is real, and a growing number of detransitioners believe their gender distress masked other comorbidities, including autism, untreated sexual trauma, and discomfort with their sexuality.

Their warning came just days after the Queensland government announced an immediate pause on hormone therapy for new patients under the age of 18.
It also coincided with an executive order issued by U.S. President Donald Trump titled ‘Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation’ that will substantially curtail the pseudoscientific practice throughout the United States.
“Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions,” Trump’s order declared.
“This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end.”
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is yet to respond to the letter. Opposition leader Peter Dutton is also avoiding the subject, having recently told media, “We don’t have any plans to change our position in relation to that issue.”
Trump’s Actions on Transgenderism
The re-election of Donald Trump has been widely interpreted as a tipping point in the culture wars over transgenderism and related issues.
Since taking office, Trump has made it the official policy of the U.S. government that there are only two sexes, male and female, in an executive order that will see the facts of biology reflected in all federal policies, statements, communications and forms, including passports.
He has also restored single-sex prisons, sending approximately 1,500 male inmates who identify as women back to men’s facilities.
Additionally, Trump’s Department of Education moved quickly to terminate President Joe Biden’s program to investigate so-called “book bans” in a move that will help ensure pornography is not available in elementary schools.
Whistleblower-doctor Ethan Haim, who exposed the child sex-change program at Texas Children’s Hospital, has also had the case against him dismissed by the Trump administration.

I can’t get one Liberal or National to fight to overturn these anti-free speech laws so that no Australian is ever again subject to this sort of vexatious litigation. If we don’t have free speech, are we really a free nation? How did Australia come to this?

Unfortunately, sadly there are American hospitals that have very publicly made it clear that nothing is going to change with regards to the ‘gender affirming care’ that they offer, even if the president has signed an executive order banning it & will no longer be funding the services they offer, with any taxpayer funds/subsidies
