Hostages Freed, Narratives Destroyed
Yesterday’s historic peace deal between Israel and Hamas has exploded ridiculous narratives that we’ve been sold over the past two years – false narratives about Israel the monster, about Trump the tyrant, about Albanese the statesman, and about pro-Palestinian protestors who wouldn’t know peace if it hit them with a placard.
First and foremost, the peace deal explodes the idea that Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza.
You’ll recall the script: Israel, the heartless aggressor, intent on erasing Palestinians from existence.
Well, yesterday’s events tend to ruin that narrative.
Consider what actually happened.
Hamas agreed to release all the hostages being held in Gaza. And Israel immediately agreed to end the war. Just like that!
It turns out, genocidal maniacs are remarkably easy to dissuade — all you have to do is give their kidnapped citizens back.
Peace At Last
This was never about Israel trying to wipe the Palestinian people from the face of the earth, as we have been repeatedly told.
The conflict began when Hamas… decided to turn southern Israel into a slaughterhouse – butchering 1200 people while dragging 250 underground as hostages.
The conflict ended when Hamas… agreed to return the hostages to their families.
Why didn’t Hamas think of that two years ago?
Come to think of it, why didn’t Hamas just refrain from murdering Jews and taking hostages in the first place?
Not being evil never seemed to have occurred to them.
But of course, if they’d followed a religion of peace rather than a religion that glories in bloodshed, there’d be no viral footage, no global protests and – let’s be honest – there wouldn’t have been a conga-line of Western leaders recognising a Palestinian state.
But yesterday proved there is no genocide. There never was.
All Hamas ever had to do in order to end the suffering of the Palestinian people was to release the hostages.
It’s sad for the Palestinian people that it took Gaza being pummelled for two years before they finally saw sense.
Annihilation
Which brings me to the second narrative that is exploded by this deal – the lie that pro-Palestine protestors in the West are interested in peace and concerned for Palestinian lives.
It’s curious to me that the protestors never marched for the release of hostages. Not once.
There were chants to free Palestine, but never to free hostages.
There were chants to globalise the intifada, but never to give Jewish babies back to their families.
Far from it.
Pro-Palestine supporters went around the Melbourne and Sydney CBDs… defacing and destroying posters calling for Jewish hostages to be freed.
And rather than protesting against Hamas… rather than urging the terrorists to release the innocents who were taken captive, Pro-Palestinians chanted in SUPPORT of Hamas… waved Hamas flags… and held aloft images of Hamas leaders.
As was proved yesterday, the release of the hostages was all that was needed to stop the bombing.
But pro-Palestine demonstrators have wanted an end to the war only when there was an end to Israel.
We all know what From the River to the Sea means.
It’s never been about peace.
If it were about peace, the demonstrators would be cancelling Sunday’s planned demonstration.
Political Pandering
The third myth exploded by the peace deal is that the Albanese Government’s decision to recognise a Palestinian State was anything other than reckless theatrics. It most certainly wasn’t helpful.
I was interested in the joint statement put out today by Prime Minister Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong, in which they wrote:
Australia has consistently been part of international calls for a ceasefire, return of the hostages, and the unimpeded flow of aid to Gaza.
Their language betrays them.
Notice they have consistently called for a ceasefire before they’ve called for the return of the hostages. Even in their statement, the hostages come second.
Expecting Israel to lay down their arms before the terrorists and before the release of hostages is to ask what no mother or father whose children have been stolen would ever do.
The Albanese Government fancies itself as the “Moral Compass of the Pacific”, but keeps reading the map upside-down.
From the very beginning, the Albanese Government has dealt in fantasies and muddled priorities.
The statement continued:
We urge all parties to respect the terms of the plan.
Again, notice the language.
“All parties”… as if the deal is between moral equivalents rather than Israel, a liberal democracy, shaking hands with the devil.
Hamas is a terrorist organisation. You’d never know it reading Albanese and Wong’s statement.
Have a look at the next part:
Australia strongly supports the plan’s commitment to denying Hamas any role in the future governance of Gaza.
There is a very long road to recovery in Gaza, securing long term peace and building the Palestinian state.
Together with our partners, Australia will continue to do what we can to contribute to a just and enduring two-state solution.
Again, the emphasis is all wrong.
The past two years have been about Israel trying to rescue its hostages. The Albanese Government makes the past two years about building a Palestinian state.
If that’s not an encouragement to more terrorism, I don’t know what is.
The next line must have hurt:
We thank President Trump for his diplomatic efforts.
Which brings me to the fourth narrative exploded by the peace deal.
Trump Seals the Deal
For the past ten years, we have been told that Donald Trump is Beelzebub, a Nazi, a dangerous demagogue who will lead the world off a cliff and into World War Three.
The left has insisted that Trump will get the world in World War Three.
Instead, he’s the only man since God who’s managed to bring peace to the Middle East on a Monday.
I had to laugh at CNN’s coverage of the announcement. They insisted,
‘This is a ceasefire deal. This is not a larger peace deal.’
You can rely on CNN to find a dark cloud on a sunny day.
I can’t imagine how depressed they’re going to be watching the hostages come home to their families.
Speaking of which, Trump phoned the families of Israeli hostages today to personally tell them their loved ones were coming home. They cheered.
I think now is as good a time as any to say: could you have imagined this under a Kamala Harris presidency?
So there you have it:
After two years of bloodshed… peace broke out — not because of hashtags, not because of protests, not because of “international pressure” — but because one side finally stopped behaving like demons.
And if that’s what it takes to end a war, maybe the next peace deal should start by asking activists, bureaucrats, and prime ministers to try the same.

Simple powerful truth
they cover all of tbe bases.
They put their followers, their flock into all of the positions necessary .
It’s obvious once you do your homework properly and look deeper than the surface.
The Bible states that in the end times all nations will turn against Israel .
That has to happen for biblical prophecy to be fulfilled .You can’t change it .imo .allegedly. It’s all in God’s Book .
Excellent article. Thanks
I’m still going to wait until the hostages are back to celebrate.
most of the hostages are corpses .It’s not about them .It’s about the fact that gazas a demolition site now There’s nothing there to defend .And Biden funded Iran as Trump said often by removing sanctions and donating them millions in cash he and Obama I think both did if I remember correctly and it was common sense that they would find Hamas and use them to do their work .When the landlord who drove the Palestinians into Gaza in the first place should be teld totally responsible for the whole entire situation imo .They should have been the negotiators since the twenty year lease expired in 1967.
it all goes back to 1917 when Balfour first made the declaration It’s all tied to a much bigger picture than people think It’s not isolationist, it’s all connected back to communism whereby everyone will own nothing won’t know it for centuries and will think they’re happy .You either can see the bigger picture or you can’t n
But the wars no where near over At all .It’s just another phase unrolling .imo
The wars not even started yet Here in WA they haven’t finished building the new navy suburbs to house 500 families to begin with for the new nuclear submarine and ships facility they’re building .with great expectations .
the elite make 500 YEAR PLANS .You need to keep up ,expand your view .They’re not like ordinary people ,they’re planning the future in centuries not weeks or months or even years .
and when did God bring peace to the middle east on a Monday ????
James, you are so incisive! Perhaps you should have also been a surgeon?!
When Esau and Ismael were banished. He also declared that Israel would. be blessed to many generations. But that there would also be enmity between them, and Israel would be scattered to the winds. (all part of history). But the bud would bloom and Israel would be blessed again until the Kings of the East rise up , (Ishmael: Russia, Esau: Arab, and the Orient: China) 200 million strong (interestingly more than the entire world population at the time of the prophecy) and be defeated in the battle of Armageddon, as the Christ returns. (Interesting the players involved yeah?) When you ascribe to it or not, your ignorance is showing…
God bless Sky News. Strong and clear speech by Sky News host, James Macpherson in these videos. Well said! and God bless and Donald Trump! Trump deserves several Nobel peace prizes!
Psalm 122:6-9 NKJ
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
7 Peace be within your walls,
Prosperity within your palaces.”
8 For the sake of my brethren and companions,
I will now say, “Peace be within you.”
9 Because of the house of the Lord our God
I will seek your good.
We need to keep on praying for the peace of Jerusalem just as we are commanded in the bible to do so – at all times, whether there’s war or peace. Let’s not stop praying for peace just because we hear of peace. This is an ongoing prayer that God is looking for.
God bless you James Macpherson for bringing across the truth so plainly and simply. I love listening to you.
Good news, at last!
I think you give Israel too much slack.
Hypothetically if Israel wanted war and genocide to continue; but have a good scapegoat to keep using the hostages as an excuse; they would hail firebombs and missiles as vigorously as they can without guaranteeing their hostage and PoW deaths and undermine any confidence the terrorists might have that they will actually stop should the hostages & PoWs be released.
When we look at the shear destruction; all the evidence of deliberate attacks on and lack of care for civillian deaths – I think this theory is far more likely. Israel wanted the hostages returned; yes; but moreso they wanted the people of Gaza to suffer for Hamas’ crimes
There is such thing as preportional response; but that ended months into the conflict and Israel in my opinion chose war rather than strategic hostage extraction.
Sure the evils of Hamas motivated continued imprisonment of Israel’s civillians and soldiers and they finally were strongarmed to give up their own playing chip to maintain their existence – but we are a long way from lasting peace.
I can only pray that Israel will hold up its end of the deal and start championing aid – its the least they can do to an absolute wreck of a region
Proprortionaility: 738 days of terrorist acts of hostage (and warmaking; PoWs)
vs 654 days of genocide (South african report Dec 29 2023; you could argue it started 1-2 months before or after this date; but its immense either way)
Which atrocity is greater?
I agree Hamas is evil and has long terrorised the gazan peoples. But is excessive harm to civillians and prevention of aid a justifiable response?
I should correct myself: I mentioned total days of genociding which is a definition that’s pretty clear (we can argue on the start date; buts its at absolute minimum >365 days) – but I counted up days ignoring ceasefires – there was two months of no fighting earlier this year initiated prior to Trump’s inauguration.
That leaves us closer (on envelope calc.) to 580 days of genocide give or take a month and then arguments for a start date.
Christians cannot forget or let go 580 days of genocide.
