DeSantis Bans Sharia Law
The West and sharia law are NOT compatible.
Many commentators who are awake in Australia know that the Federal Labor Government has been bending over backwards not only to ingratiate itself with Muslims, but to bring into this country as many of them as they can. The reason for all this is simple: with more and more ordinary Australians getting tired of Labor, they need the growing Muslim vote to help them stay in power.
To see just how bad the Albanese government is, consider the fact that in the past several weeks, not one but two radical overseas Islamic hate-preachers were granted visitors’ visas to come here and spew their poison. It was only because some media outlets did a quick web search and discovered how horrific they were with their virulent antisemitism that the Government was forced to cancel their visas.
It is not just their hatred of Jews that is the problem of such clerics, but their call for a universal caliphate and the establishment of sharia law throughout the West. Those who know nothing about Islam and sharia law will think that is no big deal, but those who do know something about these things will see red flags everywhere.
What Is Sharia Law — and Why Does It Matter?
Australian expert on Islam, Rev Dr Mark Durie, has been speaking out on this for decades now. Some 15 years ago, I quoted him in a piece I wrote on this topic:
Mark Durie notes that Islamic sharia is “based upon Muhammad’s example and teaching. This system of rules defines a total way of life. There can be no Islam without Sharia. Westerners sometimes mistakenly think of Sharia as a medieval penal code, something from the dusty and irrelevant past.
“However, the Sharia is intended to be simply what it says: the pathway for a Muslim to walk upon, an authoritative application of Muhammad’s example in a comprehensive and consistent way, using rigorous principles of reasoning and Islamic case-law. This is much more inclusive in concept than any penal code.”
Thus those who are considered to be “extreme” or “radical” in Islam are in fact being quite faithful to their own religious tradition. A very good example of all this was found a few days ago in the press. An Australian Islamic preacher made some rather blunt remarks about the relationship between sharia and democracy.
According to a report in the Australian, Ibrahim Siddiq-Conlon is adamant that Australian democracy must go, to be replaced by Islamic law. He said this: “My attack is on the Prime Minister of Australia. I hate the parliament in Canberra. I want to go straight for the jugular vein and advise the parliament that they have no right to legislate. They should immediately step down and let the Muslims take over.”
The article says this in part: “An Australian-born convert to Islam, Siddiq-Conlon is the self-anointed leader of a group called Sharia4Australia, which is pushing for the introduction of sharia courts as a first step towards achieving Islamic law.
“‘One day Australia will live under sharia; it’s inevitable,’ he said. ‘If they (Australians) don’t accept it, that’s not our problem. We hope, and our objective is to have a peaceful transition, but when you look at history that has never been the case. There’s always been a fight. It is inevitable that one day there will be a struggle for Islam in Australia’.”
Florida Takes a Stand: DeSantis Signs Historic Legislation
I say all this because of a just-announced win over sharia in the American state of Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis has just signed into law a bill that would keep Florida sharia-free. Here is what he said about this:
Today, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 1471, legislation strengthening protections against the application of foreign and religious laws—including Sharia law—that violate constitutional rights and establishing new safeguards against terrorist organizations operating in Florida.
“To uphold the rule of law, our state must operate under one legal system, the Constitution must remain the law of the land, and we must defend our institutions from those who would harm us — especially terrorist organizations that seek to infiltrate and subvert our education system,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “HB 1471 reinforces these principles in Florida, and I was proud to sign it into law today.”
Florida has taken a consistent approach to protecting its institutions and residents from foreign influence and emerging threats. In December, Governor DeSantis signed an executive order directing state agencies to take all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activity by terrorist organizations, including denying contracts, funding, and other benefits to those providing material support. The state has also strengthened oversight of foreign influence in education, prohibited partnerships with foreign adversaries tied to state institutions, and expanded law enforcement tools to respond to evolving threats.
He continued:
HB 1471 reinforces that Florida courts may not apply or enforce foreign or religious law if doing so would violate constitutional rights. The legislation also blocks foreign judgments, contracts, or legal provisions that attempt to bypass those protections.
The bill strengthens Florida’s counterterrorism framework by authorizing the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Chief of Domestic Security to recommend the designation of domestic terrorist organizations. It also ensures that foreign terrorist organizations recognized at the federal level can be enforced at the state level. Once designated, these organizations are subject to strict prohibitions, including bans on public funding and support, and individuals who provide material support face significant criminal penalties.
Additionally, the legislation increases accountability in education by prohibiting the use of taxpayer funds to support or promote terrorist organizations. Institutions that violate these provisions may face loss of state funding, and students who promote terrorist violence may face disciplinary action.
A Global Wake-Up Call: Will Other Nations Follow?
This is an incredibly important piece of legislation. It is hoped that many more American states follow suit. Every day we see how Muslims living in Western nations are working overtime to subvert freedom and democracy and demand that everyone live under sharia law – or else.
Many are applauding DeSantis on this matter. I have to go along with Tommy Robinson, who said this: “Gov. Ron DeSantis signs a law banning Sharia Law in the state of Florida. America is waking up fast. Make this nationwide.”
American journalist Nick Sortor tweeted: “BREAKING: Gov. Ron DeSantis has just signed a law BANNING Sharia Law from being enforced anywhere in the state of Florida. Sharia Law and Islamism are INCOMPATIBLE with America. This should be a FEDERAL law.”
Brigitte Gabriel said: “Governor Ron DeSantis continues to show the rest of the country how it’s done. Sharia Law has no place in Florida. Now it must be banned nationwide!”
And actor Rob Schneider put it this way: “The BEST GOVERNOR in America is Gov Ron DeSantis and EVERY GOVERNOR should FOLLOW his LEAD and BAN SHARIA LAW IN EVERY STATE!”
Absolutely. And countries like Australia need to head down this path as well. We are in desperate need of reclaiming our freedoms and our values before they all go down the gurgler. Thank you, Ron DeSantis, for taking this courageous and much-needed stand.
May it spread like wildfire all around the world.
