Steve Grace’s Eternity Truck is bringing music and the Gospel beyond church walls, taking a mobile concert stage to remote communities and country towns.

“Aussies are more likely to go to a football field to hear the Gospel than sit in a pew,” says Steve Grace.

His new Eternity Truck will meet that need head-on.

The iconic Australian musician’s Mack truck and a trailer that transforms into a stage are mobilising a decade-long missionary vision.

Steve told The Daily Declaration that the big black rig will “facilitate outdoor events.”

This will be “less about Steve Grace, more associated with bringing hope to hurting towns, pumping out the Gospel and good music.”

He’s even been gifted a quality used PA system, “donated by a mate in South Australia.”

Still a work in progress, aside from an equipment pod, lighting gear and a new paint job, most of the rig is ready.

Eternity Truck’s design inspiration comes from Australian cultural icon Arthur Stace, and will honour his legacy by bearing Stace’s renowned Eternity logo.

A Vision Ten Years in the Making

Steve shared that work on the idea began in 2016. Progress stalled with COVID restrictions, and the project hit a wall.

Spotify’s infamously low royalty remuneration for real artists didn’t help.

Speaking with The Daily Declaration, Steve added that he “nearly gave up on the concept.”

Forced back into spray-painting and vehicle restoration, those external setbacks had “depleted his enthusiasm.”

Still in ministry, Steve and his wife Kerrie were based on a remote farm in the Northern Territory for nearly four years.

More recently, Steve has been working in Western Australia, sandblasting and painting agricultural and earthmoving machinery and driving road trains.

They’ve never wavered. The vision for reaching remote communities and rural towns has been revived.

That faith, patience and quiet momentum just received a major push forward, thanks to an August GoFundMe campaign launched by Sonshine FM’s Paul Morrison.

As of 28 September, 87 people have donated $61,215 of the $80,000 crowdfunding goal.

Promoting the fundraiser on Sonshine, Steve said, “I was on the road for 36 years straight before 2020, and we averaged 120 events a year (in Australia)”

“My family and I have done laps and laps of Australia, and one thing that I’ve realised over the years is that, especially in remote Indigenous tribal communities, there are no big buildings to do an event.”

“Most Aboriginal folks like sitting out in the open and listening to the message, listening to the songs.”

“I thought, wow, this is really where the whole vision started. I’d need to start doing more outdoor events.”

Bringing the Gospel to Remote Australia

Doing a 21-day tour, Steve recalled the only problem being the rain.

“My heart’s desire for many years has been to have a mobile concert stage that can literally turn up in a country town, and turn up at the showgrounds.”

“That’s where my Eternity Truck and trailer stage vision started.”

Speaking further with The Daily Declaration, Steve expressed a deep excitement about what is to come.

He then stressed that the Eternity Truck is still in the setup stage.

Beyond a polished finish, plans include a dedicated website.

This logistics will streamline Steve’s coordination with local churches to run what he hopes will be 3-day evangelistic events.

Steve would also like to collaborate with touring Christian artists and bring in local talent.

Once all this is in place, they’ll do a test run, iron out the kinks and perfect the process.

“I’m now at a point,” Steve said, “where I expect mistakes, but expect miracles too.”

He wants the Eternity Truck to be “a blessing, not a burden to local churches.”

The ministry’s funds will be put into a trust.

Ultimately, the truck’s potential is in its flexibility as a facility “that can be used to reconnect people with the Gospel.”
