A Time for Miracles
Dear Friend,
Once again it all seems overwhelming, and it is a time for miracles. Yes, to make our voices heard on earth, but also in Heaven, realising we wage war against principalities and unseen powers (yes, I know, Ephesians 6), praying that the Hosts of Heaven will work for the Glory of God in this land.
What is overwhelming? The unseemly speed with which the abortion battle has advanced in NSW and passed through the Lower House. It may be that the horrors of abortion are going on at this minute, but – for the sake of our children at least – to give legislative approval compounds the horror.
We know that, despite all rational argument, some MPs will be deliberately deaf and vote for the propagation of evil (how did they get elected anyway?), so this is a time to make our voices heard in heaven – as per the call from many at this time. See the Daily Declaration for pro-life prayers.
Here in WA, we are battling specifically against the push for euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide.
Nationally, we trying to apply rational argument in debate to uphold the scientific genetic basis of male and female, and all that this means in terms of society, only to find that such debate is not allowed (“hate speech”), and then we realise the biggest battle we find ourselves in, is freedom of speech.
Related to freedom of speech, and a voice in what should be democratic freedom (how can democracy survive without debate?), are the freedoms to teach our children and have them taught in the schools we choose, to talk around the kitchen table, to associate with those of similar belief, to act in conscience, and even freedom of thought.
Freedom of religious belief is intrinsic to the above.
Our God is a God of miracles. Friends, let us pray that God will give us at least a temporary respite against this relentless push. Yes, please Lord God, may You turn back the evils of abortion in NSW (please see the submission from Medicine with Morality), euthanasia/PAS in WA, transgenderism nationally, and enshrine freedom of belief in our land.
Help us Lord, to do our part right, but more than that, to seek and see Your mighty hand at work in this three-year period – and then Lord, in Your mercy, three times three.
Protect us Lord, from thinking we can do it ourselves. Help us to honour Your name in everything we do. Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil.
I would like to remind you of what US Senate Chaplain Barry Black said at the National Prayer Breakfast in 2017:
[Photo by David Beale on Unsplash]In the end, he said there’s a deep and needed power that comes along with prayer — or, as he called it, “making our voices heard in Heaven.”
“When I see a group of people of faith of this size, I get an adrenaline rush, because I know that where two or three are gathered together in His name, He is there in the midst,” Black said. “I also believe that when we pray, humanity cooperates with divinity. My friends, there are things we will never get except by request only.”
