Add Your Voice to the Call for a Covid-19 Royal Commission
Take 30 seconds to co-sign the outstanding collaborative submission led by Julian Gillespie and involving the Australian Medical Professionals Society. And if you can, make your own submission too.
Whether or not a Covid-19 Royal Commission will take place in Australia is currently the subject of a Senate Inquiry that closes this Friday 12th January. It is crucial that everyone impacted by the response of Australian governments to Covid-19 makes their voice heard if the Royal Commission has any chance of going ahead.
Specifically, the Senate Committee is asking the public what Terms of Reference would be appropriate if a Covid-19 Royal Commission were conducted. Terms of Reference that don’t address governments’ reckless pursuit of ‘Covid Zero’ — and the human rights abuses, medical coercion, censorship and economic devastation that resulted — will almost certainly result in a toothless Royal Commission.
If you are short on time but want to make a difference, I encourage you to take 30 seconds to co-sign the Proposed Terms of Reference compiled by Julian Gillespie, Katie Ashby-Koppens, and Peter Fam in collaboration with the Australian Medical Professionals Society (AMPS). It is an extremely comprehensive document. In consultation with the medical and scientific community, a dedicated team of lawyers spent 60 days poring over the 52 Terms of Reference proposed therein, and calls on 80 expert witnesses.
Their submission was co-authored by 43 distinguished professors and other professionals from around Australia, including Professor Wendy Hoy AO, Emeritus Professor Robert Clancy AM, Emeritus Professor Ramesh Thakur, Professor Gigi Foster, Professor Augusto Zimmermann and Dr Julie Sladden — some of whom have authored articles published here at the Daily Declaration.

If you have a little more time on your side, I encourage you to make your own submission as well. You might submit just one Term of Reference that is particularly relevant to how you or a close friend or family member was impacted by the government’s response to Covid-19. agree, we need to never repeat the same mistakes again and loss of freedoms and earnings for many small business , many of whom were forced to go out of business (lockdown meant no customers ).
Need a Royal Commission on how Hôtel Quarantine was managed especially around the supply of nutritious food, the ability of detainees to manage intrusions, the level of supervision of detainees and how the ability to request medical assistance was managed.
