Walking 2,500km across the outback until from April until August, the Taylor family is crying out to God for Australia’s spiritual restoration.

In one of the most extraordinary prayer initiatives we’ve seen in Australia, a young family from remote Western Australia is walking across the nation for 120 days to cry out to God for spiritual renewal and national restoration.

Starting April 20 and finishing August 17, Felicity Taylor, her husband Nic, and their four children — Cali, Arai, Letty and Chad — are embarking on a 2,500-kilometre journey through the heart of the nation — from Sturt Creek in the Kimberley to Yaraka in western Queensland.

Their goal is simple but profound: to intercede for Australia.

“We just want to see God move in Australia,” Felicity told The Daily Declaration. “We don’t want to just sing about the greatness of God and miracles or just read about it, but we want to see it and we want to be part of it.”

Each day, Felicity will walk between 20 and 25 kilometres through extreme temperatures and rugged terrain. Nic and the children will join Felicity on sections of the walk, offering moral support and helping with the camp setup each evening.

“I think prayer is powerful, especially praying in locations like across the dry heart of Australia,” Felicity said. “We want to see [Australia] restored to its Christian heritage.”

A Journey Marked by Communion and Courage

Along the route, Felicity and her family will stop to take communion, declaring the power of the cross in specific locations across the country.

“Communion reminds us of the power of Jesus’ blood and the cross… how Jesus brought us from slavery to freedom,” she explained.

Nic, who is leading the family support team, described the journey as both spiritual and relational. They plan to stop at cattle stations along the way to reconnect with and people they’ve worked with and offer encouragement. They’re also praying for opportunities to share the gospel and see lives transformed along the route.

“We’ll cross the Tanami Desert and travel through the Northern Territory into Queensland,” Nic explained. “Some of these people are excited to see us again. We’ll talk, pray, and support them however we can.”

While the children admit to mixed feelings, they are excited to be involved. “It’ll be cool to walk across Australia,” said Letty. Chad, who loves motorbikes and cattle mustering, is also hopeful about doing some riding — “as long as I watch out for wire fences,” he said.

Nic is deeply moved by his wife’s bold step of faith. “I think it’s a pretty amazing thing to do. I’m pretty proud of her and happy to be alongside her for it.”

The Heart Behind the Harvest

Their project is named Southland Harvest — a reference to Australia’s well-known spiritual identity as the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit. This prayer walk, they believe, is part of a larger move of God across the nation.

“I believe there’s a reason God is calling all of us,” Felicity explains. “I believe He’s calling the whole church of Australia into prayer.”

She is believing for spiritual breakthrough. “Many say change will take generations, but I disagree. God is calling the Australian church to prayer, and as we unite in obedience, we’ll see miracles and transformation.”

Felicity’s dream is for an Australia that mirrors the early Church in the Book of Acts — bold, prayerful, and miraculous. She has studied Acts deeply, taking pages of notes and noting just how far today’s church has drifted from that model.

“I want to see an Australia that’s really hungry for Jesus and an Australia that is back to its Christian roots,” she said.

Nic agrees: “To see [our country] turn around and come back to a God-honouring society — that would be incredible.”

The Taylors are calling on fellow Australians to join them in prayer over the same period, wherever they are. “We can not ignore the stirring in our hearts,” Felicity wrote. “The driving force of love to the people of Australia compels us past our own limits and beyond our comforts.”

The family is inviting Australians to participate in 120 Days of Prayer for Australia by setting aside time each day to intercede for the nation. They hope thousands will join them in covering Australia with prayer “from every state, every region, and every town.”
