By unpacking the prophetic meaning of Shavuot, we see it’s more than a feast — it’s a Holy Spirit invitation to rise as labourers in God’s great end-time harvest of souls.

Welcome to the season that the Holy Spirit is highlighting to the Body of Messiah at this time.  Shavuot is the biblical Hebrew name of this feast and Pentecost is the Greek name for this feast on God’s calendar.

You may have heard about Pentecost 25, an initiative of the Go Movement that involves 25 crusades across 25 cities in 25 nations over a period of 5 weeks. This event aligns with the timing and significance of Shavuot.

Let us begin to unpack what is and has always been on the Lord’s heart for Shavuot. This year, the biblical feast of Shavuot will be observed from 1st to 3rd June 2025.

Shavuot is discussed at length in the Scriptures. In Exodus 34:22a, we read, “You shall celebrate the Feast of Weeks, that is, the first fruits of the wheat harvest.”

We read about the requirements for Shavuot in Leviticus 23:15-21, where we learn it was a holy convocation in which God’s people were to do no laborious work: “On this same day you shall make a proclamation as well; you are to have a holy convocation. You shall do no laborious work. It is to be a perpetual statute in all your dwelling places throughout your generations.” (Leviticus 23:21).

Numbers 28:16 provides further detail: “Also on the day of the firstfruits, when you bring a new grain offering to the LORD at your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work.”

At Shavuot, the people brought a sample of the wheat which was brought to the priest and baked into two loaves of leavened bread. This then became a wave offering to the Lord at the Temple. These two loaves of leavened bread are considered to be a picture of the “One New Man” — Jew and Gentile together as one in Messiah.

The Unpacking Continues

The scriptural injunctions regarding Shavuot were changed when the Temple was destroyed in A.D. 70. The Sages then connected this scriptural feast to the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai.

In God’s eyes it was and is a harvest festival — a harvest of souls for eternal life. I believe it was the Lord’s intention for this harvest festival to be a foreshadowing of the harvest of souls which we saw on the day of Pentecost.

What we are seeing now is some of the ‘greater’ that the Lord has in store for us. Greater things than the 3,000, we will see — greater numbers in the Lord’s harvest.

As Jesus said, “greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12).

For example, in and through the ministry of Reinhard Bonnke alone, there have been 97,670,165 documented decisions for Christ — and counting. Moreover, currently there are 2.5 billion Christians on earth — and counting. We are definitely seeing the ‘greater’ things of which Christ spoke.

In Leviticus, the Lord outlines His moedim feasts where the men were required to go up to Jerusalem three times a year. This was a foretelling of what was to come.

At the time of Shavuot and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we began to see what the Lord had been foreshadowing in the Old Covenant. At biblical Shavuot, which some call Pentecost, we saw the Holy Spirit birth the Ekklesia. Some call this event a harvest. It was truly the beginning of what was yet to come.

In recent times, we have become aware of the initiative of ‘Pentecost 25’, and I am sure that there are many more similar initiatives. We can see that the Lord is releasing the Body of Yeshua into a greater harvest time than what we have known previously.

Over the centuries, we have seen the Lord at work bringing men and women to Himself through the finished work of the cross. Now as we are coming to the end of the times of the Gentiles, we are seeing an increase and acceleration — some would say a ‘finishing anointing’, to complete the assignment for those who respond to the Good News to be a part of the body of Messiah.

The Holy Spirit’s Unpacking

Before I went to sleep on Monday night, 27 May 2025, I received the following messages from the Holy Spirit:

“Behold,” says the Lord, “you are living in a time like no other. You yourselves have said, ‘The end must be near.’ The end-times prophecies are unfolding all around you, and now, in this season of Shavuot,” says the Lord, “I am not just calling in the harvest but the harvesters of the harvest.

“You are called to be at the forefront of the harvest.

“As waves roll onto the seashore, so My harvesting waves will roll in upon humanity — angels working with you to bring in those whose names I know and whose names will be written in the Book of Life.

“The call is going forth,” says the Lord, “not just to believers, but for believers to become harvesters. The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few.

“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.”

The prophets in recent times have been saying that we need to “stay on the walls” between Pesach and Shavuot — Easter and Pentecost — that we should not let the enemy remove us from the wall in this season of watching and waiting.

As we now enter the time of RELEASE, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “You will see Me confirming My word with signs and wonders following the preaching of the word. A new day has come upon you, a day of My spirit, a day of My glory.”

You Are Part of the Unpacking

Today, the harvest of souls is not about Billy Graham, Reinhard Bonnke, or any other big names that we might have heard.

The harvest today is about your being a witness, about my being a witness. The Lord has deposited a calling and seeds into every one of His own. It is our time now to share about Yeshua in our everyday lives, with our friends, neighbours, relatives — the people we come into contact with regularly.

Kathryn Kuhlman said, “It’s dark out there”. It is time now to work while it is day. We do not know how much longer we have before the gospel is restricted.

You and I are Father’s secret weapons for this time. The call is going out from the Holy Spirit for each believer to be activated to fulfil the call on his life, to fulfill the Great Commission. We are the hands and feet of Yeshua on planet Earth.

Personally, I consider that we are no longer in a time of waiting and training but rather a time of releasing and empowering so that we can go forth boldly to declare the Good News.

Each one of us will have a unique way of sharing his faith with another. It may be that you use a tract, a prayer, or even invite someone home for a meal. The methods are endless. However, it is imperative that each one of us is a bringer of the Good News to our communities.
