Net Zero Rejected by SA Liberal State Council
On Saturday, 31 May 2025, the governing body of the South Australian Liberal Party passed a motion calling on the Federal Parliamentary team to discontinue the pursuit of Net Zero by 2050.
This is a welcome gesture signifying positive change for our party and our nation’s energy future. It made quite an impact in the media, too.

Five Reasons to Dump Net Zero
It is clear that Liberal Party members in South Australian do not support Net Zero and who can blame them? Here are five reasons why pursuing Net Zero is a folly:
- The U.N.’s Net Zero climate agenda is dismantling our energy sector, driving up the cost of electricity in a time when inflation is draining the savings of Australians.
- The Net Zero agenda is premised on dodgy claims and an ever-changing, inconsistent narrative. We’ve been hearing about the so-called climate crisis for years, whether it’s protecting the Ozone Layer (remember that?), rising sea levels (which doesn’t seem to stop wealthy climate activists purchasing beachfront properties) or, more recently, the U.N. Secretary-General warning that we are approaching “global boiling.” The Net Zero narrative is absurd.
- Australia emits approximately 1.02% of global CO2 emissions. The U.S. emits 12.6% and China emits 32.88%. It makes no sense to economically cripple ourselves over our negligible emissions. Even if we are to reduce our emissions, we do not need to do so in such a reckless manner.
- Last year, Labor refused to join a US and UK-led movement to accelerate the development of nuclear energy to fight climate change. Simply put, if they really believed in an imminent climate apocalypse, no options would be off the table, yet they are selective about how they will apparently save the world.
- Australia has the natural resources to have some of the cheapest electricity in the world, yet while we export our coal and uranium to other nations with higher CO2 emissions, we’re shutting down our coal-fired power stations and refusing to lift our moratorium on nuclear energy. This makes no sense. Putting Australia first means strengthening our energy security and our economy.
Net Zero and Climate Science
If you are interested, you can watch my discussion with geologist Professor Ian Plimer on my podcast BASED about Net Zero, and the questionable climate science behind it, here:
This development is the result of the patience and persistence of hard-working people with true Liberal values getting involved and contributing to policy making. Congratulations to the South Australian Liberal Party’s State Council!

It’s time to end the Net Zero madness and build an energy sector that delivers cheaper, more stable electricity for Australians.
This need not mean that we disregard preserving our natural environment. Far from it. But we can do so without the imposition of the U.N. climate agenda that the greatest carbon emitters don’t take seriously anyway.

While national defence, technological development and economic growth are all major threats to our national well-being, I would argue there’s an even greater peril facing our country: the slow erosion of common sense.

Thankyou Alex for your hard work and straight forward thinking. It’s much better than “looking out the window” as the Australian pm says is all you need to do to “see climate change”. ps Today is sunny after 3 days of rain.
All I can say is, “that was most illuminating!”
It’s so encouraging that you are still fighting for common-sense in our nation. Thank you.
Thank God for you dear brother!! A Voice for commonsense!
Thank God , for you Senator Alex Antic , the Voice of Commonsense in the SA Liberal Party . May your Group of true Conservatives grow stronger each week! I have no respect for Anne Rushton MP( Liberal ) who voted WITH Labor to bring changes for the Elderly ( Financial Co -Contribution starting 1 July 2025 ) which was supposed to guarantee a nurse at all times in every Nursing Home and the end of $6-00 a day being spent on meals which would not feed a dog !Rushton took NO interest in my sad situation in 2024 when I was dying, so , WHY would I vote for this uncaring woman ?
I am not surprised that Conservatives deserted the LNP in droves !In my opinion, Sussan Ley is unfit to lead the LNP to victory at the next election because she is a female version of Turnbull with the same “Progressive “policies of DEI , Transgender, etc like Labor and the Greens .Frightened of talented MPs like yourself, Jacinta N. Price,Duniam , etc, Ley has relegated you all to unimportant portfolios or obscurity where you can be forgotten and not threaten her hold on the Leadership. Women are women’s most dangerous enemies . My career was destroyed by an 18year-old female who had never finished High School , destroyed evidence of my Tertiary Qualifications off my Personnel File and wrote a suitcase-full of lies that I was “mentally ill ” It all was discovered when the shocked judge ordered my File be produced in my FOI Court Case . Women fight DIRTY ! She went on ,technically barred by lack of schooling, to become a Head of a ATO Office in Cairns ? Qld !
I note that my former SA electorate( which voted Liberal for 67 out of 70 years ) fell to Labor , a sign the Liberal Party is “sick “Australia -wide ! I hope our Liberal- Lite Tasmanian Premier(Rockcliff) and his out -of -touch govt ” get the chop”, as with the poorest people in Australia living on the Tasman Peninsula ( I have never seen such poverty, miserable living conditions, in all my life–I came out of a Refugee Camp !)the Liberals want to plunge Tasmania into huge debt, virtually forever !Our taxes will sky-rocket .Rockcliff plans on selling Tasmanian State Assets eg TasNetworks, even the World Heritage “The Port Arthur Historic Site”, etc !
You and your group of Liberals, keep up the good work to return the Party to Menzies ‘Liberal Values of caring for the People and the Nation!
Premier Rockcliff wants another Football Stadium at all costs , even if Tasmania is in debt forever ! Wrong Priorities!
