A Public Broadcaster, A Public Betrayal: New Dossier Shows the ABC Spreading Gaza War Falsehoods
A damning independent report exposes systemic bias and misinformation in the ABC’s Gaza war coverage, raising urgent questions about the national broadcaster’s editorial integrity and taxpayer accountability.
A new independent report (ABC Misinformation Report, Created by Independent Research Group) reveals that the ABC has repeatedly failed in its duty to provide accurate, impartial journalism during its coverage of the Israel–Gaza war, contributing to a climate of rising antisemitism in Australia.
The 58‑page dossier, based on publicly available and verifiable evidence, shows that the national broadcaster amplified unverified claims, relied on compromised sources, and normalised extreme narratives without adequate scrutiny.
This has been reported globally by The Jerusalem Post and others.
The report demonstrates that the ABC’s coverage “embedded disinformation across programs, desks, and editorial decisions,” creating a pattern of systemic bias rather than isolated mistakes. It highlights three recurring narratives—“famine,” “baby killers,” and “genocide”—which it says were repeatedly presented as fact despite being based on misinterpreted images, mathematically impossible claims, or activist-driven allegations.
Misreporting and Emotional Manipulation
The dossier cites multiple cases where images of children with genetic or medical conditions were presented as victims of Israeli‑induced starvation. In one example, the ABC promoted a photo of a severely underweight boy later confirmed to have cerebral palsy, not famine. The report notes that the ABC later issued a quiet clarification, but only after the image had already gone viral.
Another case involved the ABC broadcasting a UN official’s claim that 14,000 babies would die within 48 hours—a figure the report calls “statistically impossible.” The ABC later amended the quote, but the correction came after widespread public alarm.
The report also documents an incident in which the ABC aired allegations that Israeli soldiers executed a 10‑year‑old boy, despite internal emails showing the ABC knew the child was alive. The dossier describes this as “a deliberate distortion of the facts.”
Use of Unreliable Sources and UN “Credential Laundering”
The report argues that the ABC repeatedly relied on Hamas‑controlled Gaza sources, activists posing as journalists, and UN officials with documented political biases, without disclosing these conflicts to audiences.
A major example is the ABC’s promotion of a resolution by the International Association of Genocide Scholars, which the broadcaster described as representing “the world’s leading genocide scholars.” The report shows that membership required only a US$30 fee, no vetting, and included fake accounts such as “Adolf Hitler” and “Sheev Palpatine.”
The ABC also platformed UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese without disclosing her history of antisemitic remarks, including her claim that the October 7 massacre was “a reaction to Israel’s oppression.”
Impact on Antisemitism in Australia
The ABC’s coverage has materially contributed to rising antisemitism, stating that repeated allegations of genocide and starvation created “a modern blood libel” in which Israel—and by extension Jews—were portrayed as uniquely evil.
ABC’s own reporting linking the Gaza war to the rise in antisemitism, but argues the broadcaster failed to recognise its own role in shaping public sentiment. The ABC headlines in the first two weeks after October 7 were four to five times more sympathetic to Gaza than to Israel, even as Israeli civilians were still being identified among the dead and kidnapped.
The report concludes that this imbalance “legitimised hostility toward Jewish Australians,” contributing to an environment in which antisemitic harassment, doxxing, and even violence—including the Bondi synagogue shooting—became more socially acceptable.
A Call for Journalistic Integrity
The ABC’s failures reflect a deeper institutional problem: the replacement of fact‑based reporting with emotionally charged narratives, selective sourcing, and ideologically aligned commentary. They warn that a taxpayer‑funded broadcaster has a special responsibility to avoid amplifying misinformation, especially in conflicts where false claims can inflame social tensions.
The ABC charter and its own Editorial Policies call for journalistic impartiality. The ABC are in breach of their own charter and Act.
The ABC’s reporting on politics is also beyond the pale, e.g. The recent comments on air in the Farrer by-election commentary that ONP has been ‘legitimised’ is pure leftist bias.
The report concludes with a stark warning that we can all heed:
“A lie told once remains a lie, but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.”
Unless the ABC reforms its editorial standards, it risks further eroding public trust and deepening divisions within Australian society.
In my view, the ABC is a Marxist cesspool of liars that needs to be defunded and shut down. Our tax dollars are being wasted to the tune of $1,266,344,000 ($1.266 BILLION) per year based on forward estimates.
I’ll finish with this thought: God takes lying rather seriously:
A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish.
— Proverbs 19:9But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death.
— Revelation 21:8

Thanks Kym.
This travesty has to be exposed and made known to the rank and file Australians who rely upon the ABC, still thinking they are a trusted source of reliable information.
That ship sailed decades ago.
ABC ‘journalist’ Patricia Karvelas couldn’t even hide her huge bias last weekend when One Nation won the Farrer Bi Election.
The BBC and Sky News Britain round up a cast of bad actors all singing from a pro Islam anti Israel hymn book.
Frankly, it’s disgusting.
Defunding should have been tackled by the Liberal Government years ago.
Too many people believe these horrible liars.
Leonie (and Kym) thank you for exposing this tragedy, and travesty. I agree with all you say Leonie, but take issue with your note at the end, ‘De-funding should have been tackled by the Liberal Government years ago.’ sadly they have been ‘in bed’ with the same ideology for so long, they can’t and won’t. That’s why the de-funding narrative has never take off.
So very true Jim. 👍
Thanks Leonie!

Its grevious the way people seem to still trust the ABC as being a reliable source of news. I have Christian friends who watch it and are biased against Israel. It grieves me.
It’s a deeply spiritual issue when you look for the root cause.
They are driven by the father of lies.
Yes, that goes to the heart of why I don’t trust the Liberal Party. They have been in bed with this and responsible for much of what has been happening constantly disappointing those of us who used to be their rusted on believers.
Sadly the LNP have largely let us down other than people like Sen Alex Antic.
What about reform? We need a public broadcaster, but one that lives up to its charter. Can we pray for this?
Good question!
Do we need a public broadcaster at all?
Maybe. But NOT at $1.2 billion/year, that’s for sure.
We need at minimum to deflate/simplify the ABC and enforce their charter, but that would mean replace nearly 100% of the existing staff.
Thanks Kym for your fortitude, and for being a warrior for truth and common sense.
ABC – About to Become Clean, or Closed. That would be a good headline for Australia!
Your tax dollars working (hardly). $1.2 billion would be a start towards reducing a trillion dollar debt Australia now owes. Thats 1 with 12 zeros following (1,000,000,000,000) or 1 million million or 1,000 billion.
If the government were serious about tackling anti semitism they would put an end to bias reporting that inflames hatred. They would bring to justice those guilty of hatred and enforce the laws they have enacted.
It would surely be more cost effective to inform people truthfully that Jews are not the evil people some would want to portray them as than to throw vast amounts of money to provide more protection for the Jews. Sadly the situation has gone so far that this may be required as well. Wouldn’t it be better to love our fellow man so that they did not need protection, for us all to stand up for them and to call out hatred?
I thought I smelt something off at auntie’s place.
Well done Kym.
Thanks Ian and Richard.
In the end it’s a demonic agenda we are fighting, and that battle is the Lord’s.
There should be a Royal Commission into the ABC. Most of its biased Leftist staff should be sacked and its funding cut by 80%. It’s funding should be strictly audited.
A RC is expensive and would do little, a simple policy change and corporate restructure would do far more.
Honestly? I couldn’t get past the 1st few lines of your article. How many years have we read articles with these words or words very close to….. “raising urgent questions about the national broadcaster’s editorial integrity and taxpayer accountability.” The incredible, incredulous conclusion is that ABC Australia must be untouchable, no matter how ideologically biased, mockingly spiteful or immoral some of the content is. Or, is it that they express what a lot of people in our secular society believe and there are only a few who see any problems with content, so no one really cares? Or, they care but aren’t in a position to influence or initiate change ….. one voice in a void? The tax payer certainly doesn’t get value for their money, which year after year is handed over to fund an organisation that is increasingly hostile to good common-sense and reality, let alone to God-given ethics and values. I think it would take strong hardy, purposeful politicians and a movement of people to even begin to bring them to any accountability.
