COVID19 Call to Prayer – June 11: Your Vindication
Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;
for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him and He will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
~ Psalm 37
This wonderful passage was recently read in the most extraordinary way to millions of people.
The comedian and talk show host James Cordern invited his father, Malcolm, a Bible salesman, to come onto his show to teach President Trump how to hold a Bible. Apart from the comedic/political points, there was an incredible moving point at the end where Malcolm read Psalm 37, and James was visibly moved and thanked his father. May he, and others, come to know the Father. Watch it here –
“For there are but few things which we phrase correctly.
Many things we phrase badly, yet what we wish to say is understood.”
~ Augustine

A Prayer of Repentance:
O Almighty and most merciful God, of Your bountiful goodness keep us, we beg You,
from all things that may hurt us; that we, being ready both in body and soul,
may cheerfully accomplish those things that You would have us do;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Book of Common Prayer)A Prayer of Thanksgiving:
O Lord, we praise You that the salvation of the righteous comes from You, O Lord;
You are our stronghold in time of trouble.
You, O Lord, LORD help us and deliver us;
You deliver us from the wicked and save us,
because we take refuge in You.
We praise and magnify Your holy name.
(Psalm 37:39-40)
