COVID19 Call to Prayer – October 2: Received By Faith
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,
through the shedding of His blood — to be received by faith.
~ Romans 3:25
The Cross is the centre of the Christian faith — where everything meets, and everything makes sense.
But the cross is foolishness to both religious and non-religious people.
The wisdom of God is foolishness to humanity.
Just think of this — God presented Christ — to whom?
To the powers, the authorities, to the whole universe. He put Him on display.
And He declares that His people are saved. The cross guarantees it.
Our part? We receive it by faith. We believe and trust in Him.
Nothing can now separate us from the love of Christ.
If that does not give you confidence in life and prayer — then nothing can!
Petition: Please join with us in praying for:
1. Australia — Things continue to improve.
NSW has had no new community Covid-19 cases for a week.
Victoria’s continue to decline, with only 7 cases being announced today.
And other States also have no community cases.
It is expected that a trans-bubble with New Zealand will be established soon with NSW and South Australia. It has just been announced today that the border between Queensland and NSW will reopen fully on November 1st. There remain considerable concerns about the economy and mental health.
2. The World – Pray for the US. The Presidential debate this week illustrated the ugliness and bitterness that is dividing the nation. This is not good news for the world.
Remember also other areas of tension and conflict. Armenia and Azerbaijan are in an escalating war which could draw in Russia and Turkey. Over 70 protesters have been arrested in Hong Kong.
The EU is taking the UK to court. Our world needs the peace of Christ.
A Song To Think About – This is a song from Leonard Cohen, who, as he neared the end of his life, reflected more on the Bible. This song is a wonderful reminder that even in the midst of darkness and plague — we can still sing, because we have the LORD.
You got me singing
Even tho’ it all looks grim.
You got me singing
The Hallelujah hymn.
You got me singing
Like a prisoner in a jail
You got me singing
Like my pardon’s in the mail
Prayer:
Father, we bless You that even though it looks grim we can sing.
We thank You, that because of the cross, our pardon is in the mail!
We praise You for the blood of Jesus, which cleanses us from all sin.
Lord, heal, cleanse, restore, renew and protect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
