
DAY 3: Breakthrough by Blessing

“If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land”.

Reflection
This is the third day of 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting for God’s intervention in Australia’s federal election. Sometimes the best way to receive a breakthrough for your own nation is to pray for someone else’s nation. Today we have an opportunity to do just that. This is the seventh year that the team at the National Day of Prayer & Fasting has called the nations of the world to pray and fast for three days for the United States of America, from 30 April – 2 May 2019.
May 2 is America’s National Day of Prayer. The theme is “Pray for America – LOVE ONE ANOTHER” John 13:34. April 30 is America’s National Day of Repentance.
We in Australia are grateful that America stood in the gap for Australia and the nations of the free world during World War II and many times since right up to this day. Thank God for America!
Abraham Lincoln the 16th President of the United States of America said, “I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day.”
Abraham Lincoln proved he believed in these words when on the 30 April 1863 he called for a Day of ‘Humiliation, Prayer and Fasting’ at a time of great national crisis by Governmental decree with the following words:
“And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon;
and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord…
We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God.
We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.
Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!
It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”
Despite the glimmers of hope within its judiciary, America is still in crisis because it has forgotten God. America continues to be in danger from within and without.
Unfortunately the situation in Australia is not much different. We in our nation have also forgotten God and are paying the price.
We need revival and reformation.
We need what we cannot do.
We need God.
We invite you to join with us in three days of prayer and fasting for the USA from April 30 which is America’s National Day of Repentance to the 2 May 2019 which is America’s National Day of Prayer.
Thank you for praying and fasting for America. We can receive a breakthrough by being a blessing. Together we can make a difference.

America needs Jesus and so does Australia. Help us Lord! God bless America.
Election Prayer Points
- Pray that God would rule over this election – that righteous leaders would be elected to govern this nation in truth and justice because, “When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice”. Proverbs 29:2

- Pray for a Spiritual Awakening for Australia, Revival and Transformation for our nation and the proclamation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:16
