Pray for Rain Day 10: We Revere God Above All Things
by Reverend Dr Margaret Court AO, MBE, Senior Minister Victory Life Centre, Perth.
Intention
The Lord’s Prayer is a key. We begin with reverence towards our glorious God.
Scripture
Mathew 6:9-13
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Reflection
We are called to “Worship” the Creator more than the creation, and watch the rain of the heavens come down. We are not to reject the God of the heavens and the earth. Honour Him, lift Him up – He is God Almighty.
Many people are worshipping ‘climate change’ and the things of the earth. But we are to worship the God of the climate, and as we do, the seasons will RE-ALIGN.
RE-FIRE your heart towards God the Creator, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God RE-DESIGNS the nations.
2 Chronicles 7:14-18 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
His mercy will rain down on our Nation and land, and He pardons because of our prayers.
Numbers 14:17-20, “And now, I pray, let the power of my Lord be great, just as You have spoken, saying, ‘The Lord is long suffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’ Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.” Then the Lord said: “I have pardoned, according to your word;”
Joel 2:12 reiterates this with a call to repentance: “Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
Australia is desperate for RAIN, but even more urgent is our need for REPENTANCE and RENEWAL – in our hearts, and in the church, our communities and the nation.
We need to continually lift our eyes to Jesus – the great I Am. He is the I Am for Australia today. He is the answer!
“The wonderful thing about praying is that you leave a world of not being able to do something, and enter God’s realm where everything is possible.” (Corrie ten Boom) “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26.
We serve the God of the possible!
Zechariah 10:1 “In the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone.”
Prayer
We thank You Father, and ask You to rain down over this nation in natural and the spiritual in Jesus’ Name. Joel 2:12 “Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
Thank You Father. We turn our hearts to You with fasting and prayer, that the hearts of the people turn back to You, for You are gracious and merciful. In Jesus’ Name.
Joel 2:21-23, “Fear not, O land; Be glad and rejoice, For the Lord has done marvellous things! Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field; For the open pastures are springing up, And the tree bears its fruit; The fig tree and the vine yield their strength. Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the Lord your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you— The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month.”
James 5:16, “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
Father, You are the God of the breakthrough. As we pray, we partner with You to bring forth Your Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. We ask for Your forgiveness, and thank You that You hear our prayer and heal our land from the drought naturally and spiritually. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
