Day 5: Reaching One Billion with the Gospel this May
Intention
Let us believe in faith for one billion people to hear the Gospel this May.
Scripture
“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Elijah was a human being, even as we are.
He prayed earnestly that it would not rain,
and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
Again he prayed, and the Heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.”
—James 5:16-18
Reflection
“If you are a stranger to prayer, you are a stranger to the greatest source of power known to human beings.”
—William A. Sunday
I genuinely believe this is an Elijah moment. Over the weekend, I had the privilege of praying with hundreds of believers for 27 hours hours straight in the Australia Prays Zoom call. During part of the prayer time, there were thousands that took part from around Australia through livestreams. Millions of people participated globally through the World Prayer Together initiative on May 1st.
I’m still blown away by that event! What a privilege it was to be part of such an historic moment in our nation and around the globe. We were, we are, and we will continue to pray that over one billion people will be saturated with the Gospel in the month of May.
What would it look like for you to join us? It’s never too late to start praying and believing in faith that maybe, just maybe, God might use you, and that He might allow us to see the biggest harvest ever witnessed on this planet. Billy Graham said, “To get nations back on their feet, we must first get down on our knees.” Arthur W. Pink said, “The measure of our love for others can largely be determined by the frequency and earnestness of our prayers for them.” So let’s keep praying.
This truly is an Elijah moment! We can chose to stand in the gap and believe in faith for a miraculous move of God. Let us believe for the impossible—because with God, all things are possible. Remember the words of Jesus: “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Mark 10:27)
What I am so encouraged about with the GO 2020 movement is that it is not about one man—a Prophet Elijah or a Warwick Marsh or a Scott Morrison. It is about a united movement of Christians globally that ask and believe in faith for the miraculous, standing together with believers from every nation, tribe and tongue. Our desire is to see the Lord of the harvest send each of us out as workers into the harvest. We know the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, and we are praying that God would use us mightily to reach the many.
So will you join us? We are a humble movement of everyday, ordinary Aussies choosing to lay aside our differences for the sake of the Gospel. We are choosing to go and sow, to believe and receive a harvest like never before. Allow God to break the box that you’ve put him in. Allow him to minister afresh to your heart this morning so you can start believing for the impossible. Now is the time brother, sister, son, daughter, to stand up and be counted in praying and believing together for one billion to hear the Gospel this May.
We desire to stand together boldly as the Church—the body and bride of Christ. Let us believe for an awakening like we’ve never seen, as we share the message of hope with a hopeless world. So who are the five people the Lord of the harvest has placed on your heart? Pray in faith, believing for a miracle, that they would go from death to life, that they would experience the goodness of our heavenly Father’s extraordinary grace. Read James 5:13-20, and ask God what He is saying to you through this passage, and what He is calling you to do.
Prayer
Father I thank You that we have been sent by Jesus into every interaction, with every person, in every circumstance, each and every day of our lives. Give us a boldness to be Your witnesses, we pray! We desire to see our friend, our neighbour, our loved one, the person we only just met, miraculously saved. As Your witnesses, we unite with believers globally to see one billion people reached with your glorious Gospel. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
