COVID19 Call to Prayer – May 25: The Desire of Your Heart
1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May He send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.
3 May He remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings.
4 May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
5 May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.
~ Psalm 20
What a beautiful prayer! Made even more so in the light of the New Testament sacrifice of Jesus Christ. That is the sacrifice the Lord remembers – so having given us Christ, how will He not also along with Him, graciously give us all things? May our heart’s desire be His.
“Prayer will increase in power and reality as we repudiate all pretense
and learn to be utterly honest before God as well as before men.”
~ A.W. Tozer

A Prayer of Repentance:
Our Father in Heaven, we confess that the desires of our hearts are often selfish and wrong.
Create in us a clean heart, O Lord; renew a right spirit within us. Amen.
A Prayer of Thanksgiving:
Lord – you are the hearer and answerer of prayer. May You grant our requests.
Please remove this virus, and above all, remove the virus of sin from our hearts.
Enable us to rejoice in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
