COVID19 Call to Prayer – June 10: Fountain of Life
Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens,
Your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
Your justice like the great deep.
You, LORD, preserve both people and animals.
How priceless is Your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
They feast on the abundance of Your house;
You give them drink from Your river of delights.
For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.
~ Psalm 36:5-9
The devil is not the author of pleasure – he is the perverter of it. It is God who gives us His river of delights. He is the fountain of life, the source of light, the foundation of justice and the giver of unfailing love. We praise Him.
“O Lord my God, hear my prayer.
Let Your mercy look on my longing,
since it burns not for myself alone
but to serve in brotherly love.
You see into my heart and You see that it is so.”
~ Augustine
Petition: Please join with us in praying for:
1. Poland – The number of confirmed cases is 27,560, with 1,183 deaths of those with Covid-19.
Recent clusters in the coal mines have resulted in them being closed.
2. Victoria –now has had 1,687 cases (up 34 from a week ago), with 19 deaths (up 0).
In Australia there have been 7,267 (up 2). Praise God that this is a record low, with both new cases coming from overseas. There have been 102 deaths (up 0) – 6,720 people have recovered (up 14).
19 are in hospital (2 in ICU). 1,650,684 people have been tested, with 0.4% being positive.
3. Tensions on the Indian/Chinese border are threatening war – with Chinese and Indian troops being moved there.
4. One of the dangers in rushing a vaccine is that one will be put on the market which either does not work or is dangerous. Pray for patience and clarity.
5. For those who suffer from depression and associated illnesses. May they know the healing power of the Lord for their minds and comfort in their distress.
A Prayer of Repentance:
O Lord Jesus, forgive us for our self-absorption.
When we consider that You made Yourself nothing, You emptied Yourself – for us!
How selfish and sick we are to make ourselves the centre of the world.
Help us to have Your mind, for Your glory and our good. Amen.
A Prayer of Thanksgiving:
O Lord, we bless You for answered prayer.
We bless You that there have been so few cases of this illness in our country –
we pray for others where that is not the case –
and we ask that You would remove not only this illness, but our sin. In Your name, Amen.
