Day 14: Lord, Our Eyes Are Upon You!

14 October 2020

2.6 MINS

Intention

Abortion is an overwhelming issue. There is a desperate need for us to seek God for strategies to end the killing of innocent babies; to find out how we as individuals and the body corporate made up of God’s sons can take effective action based on what He has revealed to us.

Scripture

The apostle encourages us that believers may be sons of God:

“… as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
~ Romans 8:14

Jesus has given us an intimate picture of the Father-Son relationship:

“I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what He sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows Him everything He is doing… Just as the Father gives life to those He raises from the dead, so the Son gives life to whoever He will.”
~ John 5:19-21

Jesus also calls us to act:

“He that believes on Me, the works that I do he shall do also, and greater works because I go to the Father.”
~ John 14:12

Reflection

Surely the most amazing thing that God has done is to call believers to the ministry of ‘sonship’. Operating on God’s instructions and being empowered by the Holy Spirit, we can all be life-givers (John 14:12).

The process begins when we seek instructions from the throne room. We are encouraged to do this because the Lord is at hand and not slow to share His heart and strategies with His sons.

Let us commit to seeking His face for strategies to reverse abortion laws; stirring up the gift that is within us (1 Timothy 1:6), speaking to ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs (see Ephesians 5:19).

Let us share with each other the words (pneumatikon) that we receive, no matter how small. Every word from the throne room is significant.

Prayer

Father, we give You all the praise and all the glory. We love and appreciate You, beyond the telling of it. We are especially grateful for the break-out of Your life within our own being.

As a people we have defiled Your land by passing legislation that has led to the killing of 90,000 babies in the womb each year. You have shown Your anger by fire and drought, happenings which have been well-deserved. We note, though, that You cannot deny Yourself and have continued to keep Your promise to send rain on the just and the unjust when the situation becomes desperate. We are amazed at Your continuing grace towards us.

We set our minds and hearts to seek Your wisdom and strategies to turn the abortion tide in Australia for as long as it takes to bring Your righteousness back to the nation.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
