COVID19 Call to Prayer – October 16: Hope Does Not Disappoint
“And hope does not disappoint us,
because God’s love has been poured into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit, Who has been given to us.”
~ Romans 5
Have you had a disappointing week? Year? Lifetime? Ever placed your hope in someone and they disappoint you? They let you down? The devil is the accuser — the person he most likes to accuse is God. Did God really say? Is God really good? Does God really love you? Will God not end up disappointing? No. Never. Why do we know that? Because He has poured His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit who is the seal and guarantee of our salvation. We don’t pray in desperation — we pray in hope.
Petition: Please join with us in praying for:
1. Australia – Today Victoria only had two new cases and NSW only one local case.
Pray especially for Victoria which has lost over 75,000 jobs — that restrictions would be eased soon.
Meanwhile, pray about the growing tensions between Beijing and Australia.
The Chinese are now threatening to cease coal and wine imports from Australia.
2. The World – Europe is now seeing 300,000 cases per day.
New restrictions are in place in most countries, including the Czechs who were praised for their first handling and suppressing of Covid-19. It just shows that this virus is likely to be around for some time, and those who suppress it now will probably have to face it later. We pray for a vaccine to come.
3. The Church – Please pray for Christians in Ethiopia.
A Song of Hope – If you are feeling a wee bit down, I would recommend watching this – Eric Bibb singing the blues spiritual “Don’t Ever Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down”:
Prayer: Lord, sometimes we get so disappointed. We fear. We wonder if things will ever turn out right. We bless You that You have poured out Your love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Lord, we are not disappointed, and we will never be disappointed. Help us to fully realise the wonderful gifts You have granted to us. And enable us to share Your love with others, in Your name, Amen.
