Evangelicals disappointed with Biden

Pro-Biden Evangelicals Write Open Letter, Feel “Used and Betrayed”

The Canberra Declaration weathered a significant amount of criticism for warning against a Joe Biden presidency and backing Donald Trump during the 2020 election. Given our organisation’s focus on life, our support of Trump was particularly in light of his stance on abortion: he has rightly been hailed as one of the most pro-life presidents in America’s history.

So it was no surprise to us — but will be of great interest to our readers — that the pro-life evangelicals who backed Joe Biden have expressed disappointment with Biden over his first 50 days in office.

Wasting no time, on the 48th anniversary of Roe v Wade, Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris released a statement affirming their wholehearted embrace of abortion, including their intent to have Roe v Wade codified in U.S. law so that it cannot be overturned by a future Supreme Court ruling.

Biden also repealed the “Mexico City Policy”, in order to allow federal funding to promote and pay for abortions in the developing world.

The Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden have taken up a separate concern to either of these this week, focussing on the recently passed American Recovery Act in its provisions regarding abortion.

They were particularly upset that Biden’s campaign promised them “active dialogue” and “common ground solutions” on the issue of abortion, but they have not heard from Biden since they gave him their support last November.

The letter is worth reading in full. It provides a salient lesson, not just in the machinations of politics, but the cost of trusting empty promises in exchange for the world’s affirmation.

What a surprise … how gullible these “Christian” folk were in believing convenient/empty Democrat undertakings … too late now girls and boys of naivety…

Seriously? What did they think was going to happen?? They only backed Biden because it was politically expedient to do so and now they’re paying the price, or rather, the unborn are paying the price. Many so-called “evangelical” leaders are so afraid of the “Thought Police of Political Correctness”within their own congregations that they’ll say and do almost anything to keep them happy – and that included backing wolves in sheep’s clothing like Joe “woke-boy” Biden and Comrade Harris.

I’m afraid the Biden/Harris experiment will be a harsh lesson that America needs to learn…

Hmmm so stance on abortion (a woman’s right to choice over her body to prevent back-yard procedures) trumps (pardon the pun) human rights, racism, misogyny, and a full list can go on and on… Make the rich richer and the poor poorer… Hmmm not sure that was Jesus’ new society that John Stott wrote about… And it must have been hard for the ‘prophets’ who said God made it clear His man would obtain power to be wrong. But that is the true test of prophecy right – does it come to pass.
