A Charge of Light on the Anniversary of the Light Horse Charge

30 October 2021

3.7 MINS

On the 104th anniversary of Australia’s Light Horse Charge at Beersheba, God is calling his church to decree a charge of light against the hordes of encroaching darkness.

Today marks 104 years since the Charge of Australia’s 4th Light Horse Brigade during the famous Battle of Beersheba in World War I.

In advance of this anniversary, God gave me a revelation for Australia that blew my mind. For the last two months, the Lord has been prompting me to decree “light be”. These were the two words God spoke when he separated light from darkness (Genesis 1:3).

In the natural realm, darkness has been steadily creeping in Australia. For people from all walks of life, this has felt overwhelming. Yet God is telling us to decree light be.

What Do You See?

“What do you see?” is a question that God asked both Abraham and Jeremiah. The Lord has been highlighting this question to me. With the eyes of faith, Abraham and Jeremiah discerned what the Lord wanted them to see, and God was pleased to watch over His word to perform it.

With all the darkness surrounding our nation, God is now asking His people, “What do You see?”

This weekend is significant for several reasons. Halloween is a pagan festival of darkness. For many, the eyes of understanding have been blinded by the god of this age. People are caught in a web of deception and lies that draw them away from the one true living God and into the occult. Merchandise of skeletons, blood and ghosts are being sold to the ignorant in the name of harmless fun.

Hosea 4:6 warns that “my people perish for lack of knowledge” of God’s Word. But our God has not left us without His wisdom and kindness. He has given us the redemptive grace of His Son, Jesus.

Recently, I sought God in prayer for Victoria, where new permanent emergency laws are being proposed, to the utter shock of most Australians. I was also praying about the upcoming pagan festival that remembers the dead with displays of deathly faces, enticing even the minds of children to tricks and treats.

God told me to decree light be. He dropped into my spirit that the 31st of October is also the memorial celebration of the 800-strong Light Horse Brigade in Beersheba, Israel. This is a significant revelation for us at this present moment.

God used the cavalry and infantry regiment of the Anzacs to bring freedom for Jerusalem from under the oppressive rule of the Ottoman Turks. This event played a part in the redemptive grace of God that birthed Israel as a nation.

A New Charge of Light

In past years on this day of memorial, we gathered as the ecclesia (church) of God in our city to give thanks that God used Australia and other nations to bless Israel. We invoked God’s covenant blessing to Abraham – that those who blessed him will be blessed in return.

In this season, God is revealing another dimension of blessing in the radiance and brilliance of His Son. Jesus is the light of the world. Hebrews 1:3 describes Him as “the brightness of His glory, the express image of Himself [who] upholds all things by the Word of His power.”

God revealed to me that the naming of the regiment as the Light Horse Brigade is a mystery revealed for such a time as this. That charge was a charge of God’s light to break off the captivity of Israel – both His people and their land.

Horses in the Bible are a symbol of God’s creative power, pictures of beauty and strength. In Revelation 19:11-16, Jesus himself is the rider on the white horse who is faithful and true. In righteousness, He judges and wages war.

God used light and horses in a historic and unexplainable battle victory on the 31st of October 1917 at Beersheba. The Lord God impressed on my heart that the same “charge of light” is released when His ecclesia decrees light be to all the darkness around them.

A Season of Declaration

The number 800 is significant too. The Hebrew character pey represents the number 80. The Hebrew letter for pey looks like a mouth. Additionally, the spiritual number 80 means prayer, while ten signifies testimony, law, responsibility, completeness and order. 80 x 10 = 800.

This anniversary of the 800 Light Horse Brigade in this “Issachar moment” (1 Chronicles 12:32) is a new prophetic revelation for us to understand and decree in the spirit.

I believe that we – the ecclesia, the governmental body of Christ – are in a significant time of declaring and decreeing with our mouths. We are to decree the testimony of His laws of life in the face of death and light to the darkness surrounding us.

Through obedience to His Word, let us take responsibility to arise and shine His glorious and marvellous light to those sitting in darkness and hopelessness. Just as God said, “light be,” we are called in this hour to release His Word and bring order into the chaos.

Australia, New Zealand, all Southlands of the Holy Spirit, this is the hour to decree to the hordes of darkness, CHARGE! LIGHT BE!

A Prayer of Decree

We decree light be in all governments – whether federal, state or local – throughout Australia and the South Pacific.

We command light be in all laws governing the sanctity of life in our nations.

We decree light be over all works of witchcraft, divination and the occult, so that everyone in captivity would be loosed from the yokes and bonds of wickedness.

We decree light be to all who have been blinded to the marvellous light of the gospel. We call them into the salvation of Jesus Christ, the only name by which men can be saved.

We decree light be to our nation and all nations. May the earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God.

Thanks Christine . Prayers for our PM and all in authority is required of us all according to 1 Timothy 2:1-2. Isaiah 59: 5-6 addresses the web . Asking the Holy Spirit to lead in intercession with revelation from these scriptures would bring answers to prayers.

As far as I know the men who liberated Beersheba, were not called the Light Horse but the Desert Mounted Corps, But Molly needs remember that she is not God and cannot decree “light be” regarding anything. She can pray what she will but cannot decree anything.

Thank you Neil for your comment. Gods Word in Job 22:28 declares ,” Decree a thing and it shall be established for you and light will shine upon your ways.” Gos is faithful to watch over His WORD to perform it. I fully trust Him to.

Great artilce Molly. You are right God wants us to speak prayerful words of hope and redemption across the earth.

Jesus words in Mark 11:12-25 are constructive: “The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.

On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’ But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’ ”

The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.

When evening came, Jesus and his disciples e went out of the city.

In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly f I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

There was a book written about the light horse and the Christian implications. Do you know the author and title?
