The Djokovic Affair is a National Disgrace But a Win for Open Minds
Novak Djokovic is the world’s best tennis player, beloved by countless Australians. Sensationally, just days before the Australian Open begins, he has been turned around at the border for refusing vaccination. The Djokovic affair is an international embarrassment for Australia but a much-needed wake-up call for many in our nation.
Yesterday, after months of uncertainty, world number one tennis player Novak “No-vax” Djokovic was given a medical exemption to enter the country and defend his title at the Australian Open.
Today, outlets are reporting that his visa has been cancelled, leaving the 20-time major champion stranded at Melbourne airport.

For months, Djokovic has served as a lightning rod for criticism of the Australian government’s handling of Covid-19.
Those believing the tennis great should be barred from entering Australia claim that unvaccinated travellers pose a threat to the nation’s public health, and feel that no sports star or celebrity should be exempted from our border laws.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison reiterated this stance in a tweet this morning:

Is Djokovic a Threat to Public Health?
Most Australians would agree with the PM about the uniform enforcement of rules. It was with this in mind that, in March last year, I profiled a list of celebrities who’d been happily traversing our international borders even as everyday Aussies were stuck at home or abroad. If only Morrison had displayed his noble egalitarianism back then when it mattered.
But by January 2022, why should we care who arrives in this country?
As predicted, the omicron variant is more contagious than previous strains, but far less deadly – and it is now spreading uncontrolled up and down Australia’s east coast.
Yesterday, over 64,000 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Australia. Test positivity rates remain high, indicating that this number is just the tip of the iceberg. What threat could a tennis player shuffling between his hotel and Margaret Court Arena possibly pose to Australia?
While Djokovic remains holed up in isolation and treated like a pariah in the world’s most locked-down city, his critics should note that he isn’t even sick with Covid-19, and therefore has no virus to spread.
Moreover, Djokovic has previously contracted Covid-19 and recovered. According to over 140 studies, he therefore has superior immunity to those who have been vaccinated.
Indeed, in 92.5%-vaccinated Victoria, one of the highest-vaccinated jurisdictions in the world, over 100,000 new cases have been confirmed over the last fortnight. Australia has now successfully “flattened the curve” — only along the wrong axis.
The Failure of Vaccine Mandates and Passports
“The vaccines weren’t designed to provide immunity, only reduce symptoms and death” is the oft-repeated claim of mandate apologists. Never mind that this isn’t even true. Trusted authorities the world over told us that if we got vaccinated, we wouldn’t contract or transmit the virus:

On this basis, Australia introduced some of the most draconian vaccine mandates in the world. Careers were destroyed, loved ones separated for Christmas, and our nation divided.
As the new year begins, sky-rocketing case numbers reveal what we already knew from nations like Israel: those who have been injected spread the virus too, often without knowing they have it. And the benefits of the jab only last a few months in any case.
Yes, the data suggests that the vaccines provide temporary protection against serious illness – but this is a benefit to the individual, not the community. Vaccine mandates and passports achieved almost nothing, and they did so at an exceptional cost to the national conscience.
The Real Reason Djokovic is Being Punished
Novak Djokovic is not a threat to public health in Australia. But he is a threat to a flailing narrative addicted to medical apartheid and indefinite states of emergency. His border fiasco has nothing to do with the safety of Australians and everything to do with the punishment of political dissent.
According to NBC News, Djokovic was not shown favouritism when his exemption was originally granted:
Tennis Australia and the Victorian state government said Djokovic was one of a “handful” of successful applicants among 26 people who sought exemptions from being vaccinated, but had not received any special treatment in the anonymous application process.
If the world champ can’t win the Australian Open, he nevertheless will have won back many Australians from the state of “mass formation psychosis” they have suffered these last two years.

The number of vaccinated Australians continues to grow. But so does the number of Australians fed up with coercion, falsehoods, profiteering and optional human rights. The Djokovic affair is only the latest event to open once-shut minds.
In the end, that will prove far more valuable than another grand slam trophy for Australia’s favourite Serbian.

Our Governments are to make laws and administer for the good government of our society. The covid pandemic is a new challenge we have not faced before. Easy to criticize with hindsight. Federal government closed international borders, set up jobseeker and job keeper which was crucial for many.
In 2019 before pandemic ABS data reveals between approx 770,000 international visitors were arriving into Aus each month. This totals an additional 9,500,000 people accessing our medical system when they injure themselves or get sick.

With the spread of the pandemic our hospital system, in particular its staff, are struggling to cope with our own population, let alone the increase if we were admitting another 9.5 million international visitors at the level of 2019.
Those who say we should open our international borders during a pandemic to the unvaccinated with or without prior infection are expecting our hospital system to care for an increase above and beyond what it is struggling to cope already. Should our loved ones be unable to access adequate care because international travellers are competing for our services, what then?
Some say vaccination doesn’t work because the vaccinated can still catch covid and infect others. While this is so, vaccination reduces the severity of the disease, reduces hospital and UCU admissions and reduces the infectivity of the disease. Adverse reactions to the vaccinations are still by magnitude less severe than the consequences of contracting the disease.
Decisions need to be made by government in the best interests of its citizens. We can easily be armchair critics in hindsight. Governments don’t have that luxury. They are dealing with a crisis we have not faced in our lifetime. They are doing the best they can to protect and support their citizens, to handle the sick and look after the well-being of all during a health crisis that is stretching our hospital system and in particular its staff, our incredible doctors and nurses.
Maybe those who are so quick to criticize should run for government and be charged with making these decisions, or become doctors and nurses.
These seem wise words to me.

Have to admit guys its pretty easy for anyone to sit on the sidelines these days and poke holes in everything and anything others in leadership are doing. I don’t envy anyone in leadership these days. They can’t win an argument or put a foot right in anyone’s eyes. Everyone is a critic. They’re simply trying to do the best they can with what they believe is right. I’d like to encourage all critics to run for office and work their way through and see how they go at calling the shots. If you just want to sit in the cheap seats and through rocks, how about we earnestly pray for those who have gone to the trouble of working their way through rather than throwing stones. Sure, it all seems over the top and there’s inconsistencies, but if Novak turned up with the right paperwork and proof required that he undoubtedly knew he needed before he got here, he’d be practicing on the court right now.

The current Australian and Victorian Government should be embarrassed by their behaviour in this farcical episode. Their failed strategy for dealing with Covid 19 is centre stage. Rather than suppressing early treatments and mandating mass “innoculation” with experimental gene therapies with no longterm safety data that do not prevent people contracting Covid or passing it on, and have resulted in significant numbers of adverse events including death, they should have focused on protecting those most at risk and allowing access to early treatments that have been proven to work. None of the lockdowns and trampling of human rights would have occurred. Many if not all of the deaths associated with Covid would not have occurred. None of the adverse events and deaths associated with “the vaccines” would have occurred. There would be no children facing forced “vaccination” and a potential life full of adverse effects. Australians would not be suffering from Mass Formation Psychosis. We need to remember what they have done and when the time is right act so that this human catastrophe never happens again.

I have been saying for a long time now, that if treatment had been effectively provided to all as the vaccines have, we would have minimal deaths, no hospitalisation, minimal lockdown and people virus free and symptom free within 2 weeks or less of contracting the virus. The Federal Government has been looking at treatments, not just vaccines. Trials, double blind, testing ivermectin as a therapy and preventative have been carried out in many different countries. These have shown ivermectin has no significant benefit.
The Federal Government has added many drugs into the hospital system in treating covid. These are used under medical guidance.
If there was a simple preventative, it is in the Government’s interest to have it available, for both health of its people, the health system and the economic imperative of keeping open our businesses, schools etc.
The Government is not on a mission to keep us suppressed by hiding ivermectin and hydroxychloroquin from us. Even the Victorian government would use it rather than impose lockdown and border controls if it worked. Certainly NSW Govt would.

We respect your views but don’t agree with your opinion. It’s not about COVID/vaccination but about border rules and correct visa. We are disappointed in Canberra Declaration airing thoughts on this subject. We had thought they took a neutral stand on political matters and honoured God’s word when it came to submitting to Government authority.
God’s grace abounds in all circumstances. We respect those who are pro and anti and believe as people of faith accept each other in God’s love. Unfortunately there are so many opinions amongst the people of God. Thank God He knows our hearts and intent. We can’t believe there’s so much dissension amongst people of Faith. The enemy laughs!

We are not party-political to be sure, but our organisation was founded in order to influence the political sphere with Christian values. We have not shied away from any issue, and the Djokovic affair is a very relevant and timely matter for us to provide commentary on. If Novak wins his court battle (which he very well may) it will ironically be his detractors who will have held views out of step with our God-ordained government. The fat lady is yet to sing, so to speak. And in any case, disagreeing with a government’s decision is not the same as disobedience. God bless as you continue to serve him.

Reading this leads me to wonder how it is that Kurt and Warwick have come to believe that their stance is the only one real Christians could take. I have seen this arrogance in many instances, but it is so blatant regarding covid-related matters. There are alternative interpretations of Novac’s detention, but ‘danger to the public’ is not the only criteria in border protection. If it were, why have you and your supporters not worked loudly, tirelessly, with all your resources to persuade the Australian government to grant Visa to asylum seekers, many hanging on for 8 years now.
Covid has had many casualties, many different injuries. Some of the worst I am seeing are the families where the person who has most power is asserting the ‘anti’ view (anti-vax/government/mandate/…)

Hi Christine. Nowhere have we stated that ours is the only Christian stance on this issue. We have weekly prayer meetings that welcome people with viewpoints across the spectrum. Spot on Kurt and so well written … the bottom line is to toe the line or be cancelled especially if you are a public figure going against the tide of tyranny and to see Scott Morrison do this is so sad … all he had to say was yes we had rules but with Omicron these rules no longer apply … even though it never actually applied he could get away as the hero rather than the tyrant by simply stating the rules need to be changed as they no longer apply.
They have been doing this within our States so let’s do the same for our international visitors as well. Everyone with a bit of common sense will know that Novak Djokovic is no more a danger than the next person whether fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated or unvaccinated and as he’s had Covid before he is as you said more resilient to Covid than someone who has never had the virus.
He does not have the virus at the moment but is sent to a prison like hotel which is now also exposed thanks to Djokovic being added to the hotel’s number of hidden refugees … what an opportunity lost to break free before elections.
Sadly it seems that Scott Morrison believes Australians like to be locked up without benefits and to be so stubborn and not change the rules but stick to it when the rule has no power to protect anyone under Omicron is a sad day for him and his party.

No authoritative medical expert ever claimed that vaccination was a guaranteed cure all. Any contradiction to this is lying testimony.
Over and over again, it has been made crystal clear that the virus comes out of infected people in the little drops caused by normal breathing. So, using a mask while forced to share breaths with others will REDUCE the chance of catching it.
Keeping your distance allows less chance for the droplets to stay in the air which gets to you from other people.
Vaccines decrease the chance of an acquired infection killing you or making you so ill you need to be in hospital on a ventilator and of getting crippled by post-Covid syndromes.
Christian charity demands we take pains not to spread a deadly virus to any other person in case they suffer damage or die as well as demands we take prudent care of our own health.

The vaccines do virtually nothing, obviously do not stop the spread and lead to a ‘them and us ‘society. I have been battling with this for months. Not being allowed to see my elderly mother because you know what. My family think I’m dangerous to her but they somehow think they can’t spread the virus to her because they are double vaxxed. When are we going to wake up? We have become like robots. Old people walking down the street with no-one else in sight on a hot day suffocating with a face mask on.
