Day 24: Invitation to the Feast
Intention
Let us invite someone today to the wedding feast of the Lamb!
Scripture
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, ‘Write, blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” – Revelation 19:7-9
Reflection
In Middle Eastern culture, to be invited to a meal is more than a form of friendship — it is a form of covenant. While living in Jerusalem, I was honoured to be invited by my Arab Christian hairdresser to his home for a meal. I was also invited to share a Shabbat meal with an orthodox Jewish neighbour (for the simple act of helping them press a button, which is forbidden on the Sabbath!).
Most people love going to weddings, and it is customary in Israel to invite everyone you know to such occasions. Jesus was no exception. In biblical times, a wedding celebration could go on for eight days, and Jesus’ teachings on the end times are closely related to the Jewish wedding customs of the day. The book of Revelation climaxes in a wedding of the Bridegroom and His Bride enjoying a marriage supper.
But not everyone can celebrate this feast. Jesus told a parable about this wedding in Matthew 22:1-14. Many were invited, but some made excuses as they were too busy with their own affairs. The king commanded his servants to go and invite those from the streets so his house may be full. To come to this wedding, we also need to be properly dressed in robes of righteousness, having repented and turned from our sins.
Let us invite someone today to the wedding feast of the Lamb. If they are unwilling, go to the highways and byways and gather in the evil and the good, and teach them what is required to attain the right attire.
In the new book, Keys to Australia’s Destiny*, Tony McLennan shares his vision to raise up 10,000 soul-winners for Christ. There is a “God revolution” that is underway which is producing extraordinary results. McLennan suggests a three-P strategy: “pray”, “present” the Gospel to all who will listen (using a free mobile phone presentation), and “parent” those who come to faith.
Amazingly, of those who watch the presentation, about 40-45 per cent are making commitments to Christ!
Integral to our nation and region fulfiling its destiny as the ‘Southland of the Holy Spirit’ is the desire that the “sacred evangel may be preached zealously and openly.”
That is our commission.

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Help us realise the lateness of the hour and the urgency of prayer and sharing the Gospel with others. Lead us by Your Holy Spirit to those who are searching and fill our mouths with the words that will bring forth salvation, healing, restoration and life now and for eternity.
Amen.

Identificational repentance is a very powerful corporate, priestly (1 Peter 2:9) prayer weapon, in which believers stand in the gap for their family, church, city, or nation by naming the sins that have shaped a people, confessing them before God, and turning from those patterns in heartfelt humility.
