Sharing Jesus is Integral to Our Faith – Day 18
Focus
Shift the Nation: 24/7 Prayer 12–22 May 2023
Intention
To grow in prayer as the foundation for sharing Jesus.
Scripture
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
– Philippians 4:6–7
Reflection
Sharing Jesus is an integral part of our faith as Christians. It is the act of communicating the gospel message with those around us and welcoming them into a life with Jesus Christ. However, as we carry out the mission of evangelising, it is vital that we recognise the importance of prayer in this process. Prayer is the foundation that underpins evangelisation because it helps us to draw closer to Jesus, seek His will and power, and sensitises our hearts to the needs of those around us.
One of my favourite bible verses on evangelisation and prayer is found in Philippians 4:6–7. This verse reminds us that as we evangelise and share the Gospel, we must have a spirit of prayer, acknowledging God for His grace and asking for His help in all things.
A quote by the amazing Billy Graham that reverberates with me on evangelisation and prayer is: “To get nations back on their feet, we must first get down on our knees.” This quote highlights the importance of prayer in reaching the lost and making an impact for Christ. It is only through seeking God and relying on Him that we can make effective progress in evangelisation.

Prayer
God, we come before you today asking for your guidance and strength as we seek to share your love and hope with those around us. Help us to rely on the power of prayer, drawing close to you and seeking your will in all we do. Give us the words to say and the actions to take to make a difference in the lives of those we encounter.
Jesus, we trust in your power to transform hearts and lives, and we pray for an outpouring of your Holy Spirit to give us the strength we need to be effective witnesses for you. Amen.
