Creating Joy in Heaven – Day 27
Focus
National Day of Prayer and Fasting: 27 May 2023
Intention
Our going with the gospel creates joy for God.
Scripture
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
– 2 Peter 3:9
Reflection
God’s love–driven patience is highlighted for me in this key verse. It speaks of His immeasurable love in that He does not want anyone to perish.
In order for someone to come to know this immeasurable love, we must GO. And yes, we must GO and TELL.
Evangelism is certainly different today compared to evangelism in my earlier years. Personally, I am finding that I have to build relationships with people before I can share the gospel one to one. That does not mean there should not be sharing of the gospel in the gathering together – whether it be in meetings indoors, tents or open-air meetings. We need to do the GOing and God will do the rest. He is the God who rescues, the God who saves.
May I also remind you that He is also the God who equips us for our GOing.
In Acts chapter 1 verse 8 we read, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The Holy Spirit is not given to make us feel good but to empower us to GO; and indeed, to GO to the ends of the world.
I have often said we need to be creating more joy in Heaven and that is something I have looked for in the journey of my own life.
Luke 15:7 says “there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”
We are all called to GO and be evangelists – that is, to share the good news with another. We are bringers of hope, salvation and destination to a needy world.
Only Eternity will reveal the outcome of our GOing.
Matthew 28:19–20… Therefore, GO.

Prayer
Our Lord and our God, thank You that You have rescued me, saved me, and given me a future and hope. Please empower me by the Holy Spirit as I seek to share the message of your immeasurable love so that none might perish.
I pray for all people who will seek to GO and share the good news of the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ at this time. May they create joy in Heaven. May they sow seeds that will reap a harvest in Jesus’ name. Amen.
