RAF Racism: White Pilots Win Discrimination Compensation

2 June 2023

31 Royal Air Force (RAF) candidates will receive compensation after being discriminated against on the basis of skin colour.

The melanin-before-merit row was apparently triggered by RAF Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston’s Woke, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) quotas.

An email leaked to the public containing the racist revelations – framed as “positive discrimination” – forced the Royal Air Force to confirm the payouts.

Updating the 2020–2022 story, Sky News, GBN, and The UK Telegraph independently reported that recruiters were told to “stop choosing useless white male pilots.”

This was due to the hierarchy’s push to “boost female and ethnic minority ratios in the Air Force.”

Payouts for White Racism

Consequently, “The Air Force is having to pay £5,000 each to the 31 white men – a total of £155,000 – who it found had been unfairly disadvantaged by [the Woke] recruitment policy”, a Defence source said.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Mark Nicol explained in February that the RAF’s DEI quota tactics breached ‘employment law’.

This was due to the recruiters being instructed to “favour female, and ethnic minority candidates over white men”.

Nicol’s added,

“Under employment law, the military is granted dispensation to disqualify people based on their age and physical abilities. However, any policies which favour candidates based on their sex and race would be unlawful.”

Allegedly willing to ignore legal boundaries, the soon-to-be-former RAF chief, dug in, stating, he was willing to bend the operational manual to meet BAME (Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic) diversity quotas.

A transcript acquired by Sky News, revealed Wigston stating in 2020,

“I’m going to it as far as I can in the law – right up to the point of quotas, and push ‘positive action’ to the limit of the law.”

For context, by positive action, he means positive discrimination, and by that, Wigston means anti-white racism.

Racial Discrimination Due to DEI

Two years later, Wigston’s apparent “hate-whitey,” far-left zealotry led to the resignation of Group Captain Elizabeth Nichol.

Sky said “she refused to implement” the policy (see here).

Nichol viewed the melanin-before-merit quota “prioritising female and ethnic minority recruits over white men”, as a ‘disproportionate’ and ‘illegal order’.

Nichol – the RAF recruitment head from 2021 until her resignation – accused the RAF “of discriminating against 160 white men”.

As GBN reported she claimed, “the service had paused the recruitment of white men in order to hit DEI requirements”.

In damage control, U.K. Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, tap-danced around, the now defunct racist policy, saying people need to understand that “no one was prevented from joining the RAF as a result of these” Woke pre-requisites.

Wallace’s defence is negated by the RAF admitting there was a problem.

New of 31 candidates’ being granted compensation, for what it insists was harmless, ‘positive discrimination’ doesn’t help his argument either.

Willing to compromise operational capabilities, the RAF chief is happy to disadvantage white candidates, in order to diversify.

If “hate-whitey” helps hit self-sabotaging diversity, equity, and inclusion targets, why not deploy a little bit of culturally acceptable ‘institutional racism’?

Sir Wigston’s orders are reminiscent of the Biden administration’s latest far-left fetish parading the U.S. military’s painted nails, instead of preparing troops properly.

Scrap DEI, Let the Best Person Take the Job

I agree with Group Captain Elizabeth Nichol, there’s nothing inherently wrong with having a diverse defence force.

As long as the best person for the job gets the job.

‘Disadvantaging’ the majority discourages the majority from ever wanting to serve in the defence force.

This is a consequence lost on many a Critical Racist Theory, ‘Whiteness’ apologist.

While the world spirals into another avoidable global tragedy, the only war Sir Mike Wigston seems focused on is the Woke war on white men.

With leaders like this, one wonders if Kipling’s words in “Tommywere ever heeded at all:

‘For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!” But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country” when the guns begin to shoot.’
