Who Will Police the Non-Binary Police?
The number of genderqueer Victorian police has tripled in 12 months.
The number of Victorian police identifying as “non-binary” has increased three-fold in the past 12 months, which raises the big question… is it something in the water?
According to last year’s Victoria Police annual report, 32 employees “self-identified” as neither male nor female.
But as of May 31st, that number had jumped to 111.
If the trend continues, by 2028 there will be no men — or women — left in the Victorian Police force. They’ll all be non-binary.
Perks
The Herald Sun reported last week that police command was investigating claims some police were identifying as non-binary in order to access a special clothing allowance worth $1300 a year.
Well, if you’re going to pay extra money for someone to tick a box, don’t be surprised if everyone starts ticking that box.
Hey, for an extra $1300 a year, I’ll tell you whatever you want to hear.
This is a massive problem with identity politics — whether it be university admissions, dress allowances or reparations.
If you offer people money for self-identifying a certain way, you’re going to get more of those people.
Incidentally, it’s fascinating to learn that you earn more money in the Victorian police force as non-binary than as a male.
I thought it was illegal to discriminate against people on the basis of gender. But that’s just me forgetting that the prerequisite for being a progressive is a severe case of cognitive dissonance.
Even more fascinating will be how they unscramble this genderqueer egg.
Conundrum
A police source was quoted in the Herald-Sun saying that it may be a criminal offence to falsely identify as non-binary in order to gain a financial benefit.
But how will policemen determine whether a policeman is pretending not to be a policeMAN because police-non-men get more money than policemen?
It may well be a criminal offence to pretend to be non-binary, but you also run the risk of committing an offence by questioning someone’s gender identity.
This is the delicate dilemma now facing Victorian Police commanders. I think it’s what we call being hoisted by your own gender petard.
Aren’t we continually told that gender is an inner feeling that cannot be questioned?
In Victoria, you run the risk of criminal sanction for trying to talk anyone — even your own child — out of self-identifying as other than their biological sex.
So how can Victoria Police, in good conscience, cast aspersions on the inner feelings of police officers who want nothing more than to live as their authentic selves… and pocket an extra $1300 in cash every year?
The Victoria Police website boasts about its commitment to LGBTIQ+ issues.
The website says:
“We acknowledge the history of exclusion for many Victoria Police LGBTIQ+ employees. It is so very important that we encourage all employees to bring their whole selves to work and create a work environment where LGBTIQ+ employees feel safe, and are safe, from workplace harm.”
So this is the world progressives wanted.
A world in which you can be whoever you want to be, and no-one — not even your own chromosomes — can tell you otherwise.
It’s a bit late now for Victoria Police to complain that everyone is being whoever they want to be and they can’t control it.
So, popcorn anyone?
