The Facebook Files: Biden White House Exposed for Censoring Conservatives
More revelations surface of the Biden White House abridging the freedom of speech of Americans, paralleling events in Australia.
First there were the Twitter Files, now we have the Facebook Files.
The Biden White House repeatedly pressured Facebook, in secret, to censor conservative news outlets and individuals, according to documents subpoenaed by Jim Jordan, a Republican Congressional Representative from Ohio.
Jordan has now published three instalments of the ‘Facebook Files’ to X, formerly Twitter, documenting the extent of the Biden regime’s censorship industrial complex.
Among the many revelations: the White House asked Facebook to change its algorithm to amplify news stories by The New York Times and bury reporting by conservative outlets like the Daily Wire.
Rob Flaherty, Biden’s Director of Digital Strategy, also requested Facebook to apply a “misinformation” label to stories from certain outlets. One of those he targeted was the New York Post, which had previously been censored by Twitter and Facebook for publishing a story damaging to Biden’s reputation on the eve of the hotly-contested 2020 election.
The Twitter Files later revealed the FBI’s direct involvement in that blatant act of election interference.
In the documents obtained by Jordan, Flaherty even suggested that Facebook should simply “kick people off” for expressing the wrong opinions.
In another, one of Biden’s Covid-19 staffers argued that Americans could not be trusted to discern the truth for themselves, scoffing, “If someone in rural Arkansas sees something on FB, it’s the truth”.
The Biden White House’s abuse of power evidences a brazen disregard for the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, which prevents the Federal Government from “abridging the freedom of speech” of American citizens.
Facebook Knowingly Censored the Truth
At first, Facebook agreed to “contain” disagreeable content but would not commit to censoring specific news stories or individuals.
But as Flaherty applied more pressure, insisting Facebook “reduce the spread of bad information” and shield users from “bad content”, the company complied by implementing a “shadowban” system.
Much of the content Facebook removed or hid from news feeds concerned Covid-19. Even content that was factual was suppressed.
In the documents, one Facebook employee explained that genuine stories from people injured by the Covid-19 injections were demoted. “Similarly,” the employee wrote, “posts questioning whether you should get a vaccine under a mandate, whether it’s government overreach. We demote those. That’s not false information, but it leads to a vaccine negative environment.”
The Facebook Files follow the recent Missouri v. Biden case, which uncovered reams more evidence the Biden regime had colluded with Big Tech companies to censor the free speech of Americans.
In his initial ruling on the case, Judge Terry Doughty wrote:
The evidence produced thus far depicts an almost dystopian scenario. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth’.
While Judge Doughty banned the Biden admin from communicating internally with social media companies, a federal appeals court put a temporary halt on the judge’s order, allowing the White House to continue its censorship.
Albanese Equivalent in Australia
Revelations about the corrupt Biden regime have a direct bearing on Australians.
For one, the Australian Government was recently exposed for the exact same behaviour, as the Daily Declaration reported last month.
More importantly, the Labor Government has announced it is not content to censor in secret and later be found out through Freedom of Information requests — it wants legislative power for its unethical antics.
The dystopian ‘Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation Bill’ would give the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) the power to define truth and hit social media companies with millions of dollars in fines for failing to shut down the free speech of Australian citizens.
The Albanese Government’s Orwellian overreach, like Biden’s, flies in the face of the nation’s express human rights commitments.
Freedom of speech is a fundamental right of every Australian. In defining what constitutes the values of Australia, the Department of Home Affairs features “respect for the freedom and dignity of the individual”, and in particular “freedom of speech”, at the very top of its list.
Australia is a founding member of the United Nations and an original signatory of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Article 19 of that declaration reads, “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
Australians, like Americans, must use their free speech while they still have it.
You still have until 20 August to make a submission opposing the Labor Government’s proposed censorship powers. Make your submission HERE.
