Day 14: Powered by Love

10 September 2023

3 MINS

Intention

To pray empowered by God’s great love for the lost.

Scripture

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

– John 3:16

Reflection

We know John 3:16 by heart, but many have missed the intensity of the opening statement: “For God so loved the world”. Many instead focus on “whoever believes shall not perish” as the base to reach out for the lost.

It was May 2002 when God broke open the spiritual barrier over the Indonesian atmosphere. A few pastors were touched by the “God so loved the world” vision and planned a small meeting to pray together. The meeting turned into a large one where over 1700 people came with the same heart, crying and wailing for the salvation of the lost. I was there with my team – touched with a new passion for the lost.

A decade later in 2012, God started a spiritual tsunami in Indonesia again. It hit the nations and impacted the world. Over three million hearts joined as one body to pray with the new wave of God’s love in 378 cities. It’s here that the World Prayer Assembly (WPA) was born. My son, Reza and I were there, burning with God’s love for the world. Reza caught the wave and actually created the logo of the WPA.

Another decade came, and the world was painfully ill with Covid-19, but the tsunami of God’s love could not be contained. Five months before the second WPA in 2022, during the preparation, Reza went to be with God. He was still riding the new wave of love he caught ten years before.

I lost myself. He was my firstborn and only 37 years of age. He was too young and so full of unreached potential. I wanted to give up the WPA, because seeing the logo shattered my heart into pieces.

However, in the midst of my troubled heart, caught in the storm of the chaotic pandemic, God found me. The pain of losing my son was not comparable to when He lost His. He so loved the world, that He willingly sent His beloved Son to die for us, so whoever believes in the Son will not perish but have eternal life.

I came to the Father, surrendered and thankful to Him. I now ask the Father to let my son Reza be the seed for many young people surrendering their lives to ride the new wave of God’s love.

That great love cannot wait ten more years for another WPA. This year, on October 3–6, the third WPA will take place in Perth. We do not need to have extraordinary experience to dive into the new wave. God will allow us to experience Him through prayer – and that will be extraordinary. We will see the spiritual tsunami sweeping all corners of the world with His glory as prophesied by Habakkuk.

Prayer

Father, here we are, the people whom You love so much. What else can we boast about except Your great love? Thank You for loving the world.

It is an honour that we can be a part of Your new wave. Use us, Father, in any way You want and let Your glory cover the Earth. Amen.

Thank you so much Daniel for this beautiful message. The seeds you have sown and are sowing in Indonesia are rippling throughout the world! In April I was in Fiji in a Youth Rally. Out of the crowd a small group came and did a flag dance, not part of our program. It was beautiful! At the end of the dance a female dancer jumped on the shoulders of her partner and unfurled a red flag – we couldn’t read it and didn’t know who they were. It turned out they were from Indonesia. The Lord had told them to come to unfurl the flag at the International Dateline in Taveuni [Fiji] to ‘usher in the tsunami of prayer to welcome the King of all the Earth’, That tsunami is happening now…. Hallelujah! Thank you – I wish I could join you in Perth but I’ll be in Israel celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles with a large delegation from all over the world too! Bless you!

Thank you Ps Daniel for sharing your heart wrenching testimony of the loss of your son. The anointing is costly. Thanking God for your stewardship of His grace and mercy through prayer that is prayed through a sacrifice on the altar of fire 🔥. Thanking God for birthing WPA and the wave of Gods Glory that will bring in the harvest of souls of the nation. A fitting reward for the Lamb of God to receive every reward of His suffering.
