Day 16: Clean Hands and Pure Hearts
Intention
To cleanse our hands and purify our hearts so that we can carry the glory of God.
Scripture
“Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.”
– Psalm 24:3–4
Reflection
Preceding the “coming of the King of glory” in Psalm 24:7 is a challenge, a prerequisite, to stir a generation to seek the face of God. Who shall stand at the city gates and declare that is time to lift up the ancient doors and let the King of glory take His rightful place? Answer: Those with clean hands and pure hearts.
For the past 18 months, I have been walking through a refining season. This was sparked by a time of prayer requesting my heavenly Father to cleanse my hands and purify my heart. He answered my prayer and gave me a renewed life!
In 1 Cor 3:12–13, Paul describes the quality of materials we should build with to withstand the fire of His judgement. This season of repentance and new life has replaced my straw and wood with precious stones. It’s a brilliant demonstration of the Father’s great love and workmanship that He steers me onto paths of righteousness.
As we desire our families, workplaces, and neighbourhoods to know God and to be known by Him, He requests for it to first start with us. This prayer to know and be known is a call for an intimate walk with Him. A walk that allows Him to sift the work of our hands and the desires of our hearts. He is looking for ones who can steward His glory. He is looking for sons and daughters who will not lift their souls to another.
Paul writes these words about dedicating our whole self to the Lord so that we are completely His:
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Romans 12:1)
This wave of glory will reap a great harvest. But it requires the clean hands and pure hearts of God’s sons and daughters to be ready to go out into His harvest field to love the lost and broken.
God, help us! Prepare Your Church, Lord. Give us wisdom to be able to steward what You desire to pour out.

Prayer
Lord of Heaven and Earth,
Prepare my heart, cleanse my hands. Renew a right spirit within me. You have permission to steer me on your paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake.
Rise up our generation to seek You, so that we would receive Your blessing and salvation.
Thank You for Your blood, Jesus, that covers me. Let my act of spiritual worship be pleasing to You.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Identificational repentance is a very powerful corporate, priestly (1 Peter 2:9) prayer weapon, in which believers stand in the gap for their family, church, city, or nation by naming the sins that have shaped a people, confessing them before God, and turning from those patterns in heartfelt humility.
