Voice Treaty Truth: Has the Christian Voice Been Heard?
Editor’s note: Norman and Barbara are being interviewed by Christian Vision Radio’s Neil Johnson at 11:30 am AEDT on Mon 9 Oct.
Australia is at a crossroads. Is it a racist nation? Will reconciliation ever be possible? Will it be divided forever? Will we have two classes of citizens, Indigenous and non-Indigenous after the Voice Referendum on October 14? Do we have to deal with the original sin of colonialism as the foundation of Australia from which we can never have redemption or forgiveness?
Is separatism the way forward? Or can Australia heal after this divisive debate over the Voice to Parliament and government referendum? We are fighting for the very heart of Australia. We are soul-searching about who we really are as a nation and what we want to be and our vision of the future. We are told that whether we are black or white, First Nations or non-Indigenous that, if we vote yes, we are enshrining racism and inequality in the Constitution and if we vote no, we are racist, ignorant, and hateful. Years of work for reconciliation and to build a multicultural cohesive society in Australia are at risk.
My new book, Voice Treaty Truth: Has the Christian Voice Been Heard? discusses, among other things, how cultural Marxism relates to the Voice. I explain the yes and no cases in detail and why I am voting no at the referendum. You can find the book here.
Below is an excerpt from Voice Treaty Truth: Has the Christian Voice Been Heard?, explaining Cultural Marxism:
Cultural Marxism
Jesus rebuked His generation for not discerning the times (Luke 12:56) and Paul admonishes us to know the times in Romans 13:11–14. He tells us to wake up from our slumber to God’s signs of the time, not to align with the woke spirit of our times because the day of the Lord is near. We need to be like the biblical tribe of Isaachar who knew the times and what their nation should do (1 Chronicles 12:32).
What is the spirit of the time we are in? Not only is there worship of the god of climate change, and the god of identity politics etc. but traditional Marxism has undergone a transformation to cultural Marxism when it saw that it had not been successful in taking over the world despite the death of millions of people under communism. It has now completed what is called “the long march through our institutions” so that it is so much a part of our culture, we don’t even recognize it has infiltrated and even inverted much of our thinking.
Commenting on what appeared to be spontaneous demonstrations of Black Lives Matter activists in the USA, the Catholic World Report commented that in fact it was the result of decades of deliberate stirring up of anger at racism and victimhood by cultural Marxists. It says,
The “Long March through the Institutions” is a phrase coined by Italian communist Antonio Gramsci (1891–1937) to describe how a society could be subverted without recourse to arms. By co-opting society’s chief institutions—schools, universities, courts, corporations, media, and political parties—dedicated leftists could effect revolutionary change.
In Australia, one example that has caused outrage among parents is that their pre-school children were made by their teachers in Sydney to make cards saying sorry to Aboriginal people for taking away their children. This was not age-appropriate and the children did not have it explained to them and went home feeling guilty and ashamed of their people and their nation. One card read: “Sorry for hurting you. Sorry for hurting your land.”
The Frankfurt School of mostly Jewish intellectuals fled from Nazism in Germany to the USA in 1935 joining Columbia University. Marx and many of his followers hated Judaism and Christianity and wanted to purge society of it as they believed it underpinned the capitalist system. The family was another institution that had to be dethroned.
The ANU Museum of the Jewish People says of the Frankfurt School,
A brief history. In 1930, the German-Jewish philosopher Max Horkheimer was appointed to lead the Institute of Social Research at the University of Frankfurt founded by the then-young German-Jewish millionaire-with-a-Marxist-worldview Felix Weil. Horkheimer gathered a group of brilliant intellectuals including Theodor W. Adorno, Herbert Marcuse, and Erich Fromm. All Marxist intellectual Jews who believed themselves to be repairing a world ruled by Karl Halevi – the original Jewish name of Karl Marx. Three decades later, in the 1960s, that group was dubbed the ‘Frankfurt School,’ a term synonymous with a critical-social theory that would become one of the most influential philosophies of the 20th century…
The Frankfurt School’s heyday came in 1960s America. The hippies in San Francisco, the Counterculture, and the Civil Rights Movement went searching for culprits and the Frankfurt School offered them the perfect nemesis: the system, the establishment… Thus, they passionately read Adorno and Marcuse to the strains of Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, and Joan Baez enhanced by the curling smoke of marijuana. They were addicted.
The Frankfurt School realized that the determining factor was culture not economics and so began a long march through the institutions of power and influence discussed above. It was a critical change of direction. Critical Race Theory is part of cultural Marxism as Marxism broadened from class warfare to include race and gender warfare.
We are created to worship and, in rebelling against God, we need to fill the hole or void by worshipping something to give our lives meaning and purpose. Worship of God is often replaced by idol worship. One example is the worship of the golden calf when the Israelites thought Moses was taking too long to come down from Mt Sinai (Exodus 31–32).
The Lord gave me the revelation that identity politics is like a golden calf or idolatry and it is also a sacred cow. It is in society and the church and it is like an alternative religion, a false worship running parallel to Christianity.
While the cow is sacred in Hinduism, it is also used for a concept, custom, or institution held to be above criticism. Sacred cows are often hard to get rid of because they are accepted and considered respectable whether in Christianity or in another sphere. What is the sacred cow or golden calf in our society now that has even invaded the church like a trojan horse?
It is the identity politics of cultural Marxism. Even the church has fallen into this trap as the ancient Israelites did, being divided by those who support woke issues and those who don’t. The cultural war against the church is also waged within the church.
Godless Saviours
What is identity politics and is it all bad? Even non-Christians still understand there is good and evil and look for a godless way to deal with evil and suffering. They look for a secular saviour. Identity politics developed by cultural Marxism divides people into oppressor groups and victim groups. Some people in so-called oppressor groups or so-called victim groups try to change things for the better with good motives. Also, some do so for bad motives e.g., resentment and anger of victim groups who want to punish and get revenge on oppressor groups. As a result, negative spiritual dynamics are released.
Who are the Oppressor Groups of Identity Politics?
Proponents of identity politics say their identity is their politics. They describe it according to a list of attributes:
- white
- male
- straight
- cis-gendered (gender identity corresponds with birth sex)
- rich
Who are the Victim Groups of Identity Politics?
- black
- female
- gay
- transgender
- poor
Having measured their identity according to their “intersectionality score,” i.e., they are more victimized if they are black female and more if they are black female gay etc., they discover their oppression score, how the system is hating them, and holding them down.
Then they get angry so they try to destroy those structures that are “oppressing” them and get the power they need to be happy. But instead, it is making them unhappy and is dividing our nation. We have:
- black against white
- man against woman
- gay against straight
- trans against cis
- poor against rich etc.
- and we can have the reverse
But Galatians 3:28 tells us “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” This is because we are all children of God and Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross enables forgiveness of our sins when we repent and follow Him.
Our identity is in Christ, not in our race, skin colour, nationality, culture, sex, gender, income, status, age, or health. It is a battle over power. But the Bible says “it is not by might or by power but by my spirit says the Lord.” (Zechariah 4:6)
Who is the Main Oppressor According to Intersectionality?
The main oppressors are white straight cisgender males. And so, we have the concept of white privilege even if they are poor and struggling and they are to blame for everything. They are the scapegoat. But we already have a scapegoat who paid for the sins of the world. His name is Jesus. He is the only one who can pay the price because He was without sin.

Thanks Barbara,
Just placed order for your book. I have already voted no, but your except of your book on the history of the evolution of Marxism to cultural Marxism and the Jewish Question was intriguing. Something I’m hoping you’ve further develop in the book
Barbara, thank you so much for this, a really clear analysis. For me the “Long March through the Institutions” is key. We should be talking about this at every turn. our pulpits need to be talking about it. “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.”
This was my initial thought for voting “no” . I started out thinking about what would be good for the indigenous Australian, and came to the conclusion that to permanently brand them victims would be soul destroying, and something I would not want as an outcome for my own children and grandchildren. Likewise to brand us as the permanent oppressor would mean we can never find common ground and appreciate our differences. And the marxists have won.
I also think we should appreciate what a unique and worthwhile constitution we have been bestowed by others that were previously moved by God in past decades – reading Kurt and Warwick’s book on revivals in Australia is a wonderful read.
Thank you , Barbara for enlighting me (Cultural Marxism ). For many years I have felt confused by what has been happening in Australia and could not understand why my university graduate daughters rejected me over 20 years ago ? WHY has no one told us this before ? I am not an “Oppressor “, ie I am NOT rich or a racist.I am a Catholic who attends Mass, has contributed to a new car for a Protestant Indigenous Pastor. I detest the Marxist philosophy which has infected the Catholic clergy, has destroyed the Church ,and is infecting the minds of my young grandchildren. Badoglio (Pope Francis ) is an evil man, who, it is now reported , is now “turning a blind eye ” to church blessings of same sex couples which is against God’s Law (Sodom + Gomorrah ). Does not surprise me as his Communist parents were forced to flee Mussolini’s Italy . He has now stacked the Vatican with the creation of many new Cardinals to ensure his successor continues his “Good “work ! Many American Catholics are angry because he has stopped many Latin Masses which were an Option. The reason is because Traditional Catholics adhered to the Word of God in the Bible, ie were against Trans Gender , etc. In 1965 statues of St Michael, the Archangel were removed from churches and the prayer (after Low Mass ) to him to protect us against the snares of the Devil ( Evil ) were abolished. I pray it every night (to protect Australia, etc ) and carry the prayer in my handbag . I emerged without a scratch from a spectacular car accident which should have killed me —I am sure only God saved me . We are living in terrible times—the eternal Fight between Good and Evil. I am afraid with all the millions Albanese and the Corporates are spending , “Yes “could win to destroy Australian democracy !
Thanks you so much for the wonderful comments above. I really appreciate the feedback and glad I was able to bring some helpful insights. Praise the Lord.
