Former Occultist Kat Von D is Baptised, Having Walked Away from Witchcraft

Celebrity tattoo artist, fashion designer, reality TV star and former witch and occultist Kat Von D has posted a video of her baptism, with family and friends looking on.

Kat Von D, also known as Katherine von Drachenberg, has lived a unique life. Her first tattoo was at age 14. She quit school at age 16 to open her first tattoo shop. Her reality TV show LA Inked promoted her tattoo parlour in Hollywood, California. She had a deep involvement in witchcraft, the occult and Wicca.

Kat Von D built her enterprise around gothic tattooing, dress, makeup and music. As reported by news.com.au, a black lipstick named “Witches” brought fame to her former beauty brand. The accessory line-up included a wallet “made in the design of a coffin”.

Yet despite the former celebrity lifestyle, Kat Von D has made some changes in recent years. One of these is the decision to cover nearly all of her tattoos with black ink. In a post on 8 June 2022, she explained her ‘blackout tattoos’, saying,

it’s extremely refreshing for me to see all the garbage, drunken tattoos I had scribbled all over my leg that I got before I became sober, be covered by sleekness and simplicity.

In another change, she relocated from California to a quieter lifestyle in Indiana with her husband and son. She cited California’s taxes, “terrible policies” and “tyrannical government” as reasons for the move.

But no change was as jarring as the announcement of her baptism on social media.

Baptism with Invited Guests

On 3 October she uploaded a video of her baptism to her Instagram account. Inked-up family and friends can be seen looking on, including some from the occult world.

Representative of the change, her white baptismal gown was in stark contrast to her usual black attire.

Her pastor can be heard saying,

Katherine von Drachenberg, upon your profession of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in obedience to His Divine command, I baptise you, my sister, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

With 9.5 million followers on Instagram, responses to her baptism were destined to be varied. Some celebrated Kat Von D’s baptism, such as ‘vanillallure’ who commented with this post:

I am a former Playboy model and exotic dancer who dabbled in Satanism, witchcraft, and voodoo. I fully renounced my former way of life over a year ago and have since fully returned to the faith. The life I led opened doorways to the demonic I did not know I had opened. The forces of the underworld can influence your will and your body, but no one is ever robbed of a second chance. God makes ALL things NEW.

Another replied to the news with, “The lady who gave me the ultimate eyeliner, now has her eyes opened to Jesus 🙌 welcome home sister. God bless you.” Another posted “Hell lost another one!”

Others were vehemently opposed, writing “you are trashing your entire ‘career’” and “Honestly super cringe”. One replied to Kat Von D with “Hail Satan 666”.

Still others, such as ‘dayanamilllz’, had a different approach and took issue with the connection between witchcraft and evil:

Honestly saying witchcraft is bad and evil is SO disrespectful! Witchcraft is the use of energy and we can work with good spirits [and] bad spirits but that goes with everything in life. Me personally I work with my angels, ancestors and god.

Leaving the Occult and Witchcraft

Changes in Kat Von D’s life have not been instantaneous. Instead, there has been a steady progression. However, one line-in-the-sand event – occurring a little over a year ago – deserves special mention.

In a style reminiscent of the new Christians in Ephesus who burnt their magic books (Acts 19:18–20), Kat Von D threw out her books on witchcraft and the occult.

Some of the discarded titles included The Sorrows of Satan, The Cosmic Serpent, A Treasury of Witchcraft, and The Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and Demonology. Tarot cards – some of which she made herself – were also among the items that found a new home in the trash.

Kat Von D Occult Books

In a post on Instagram in July 2022 she explained the book-expelling with these words:

I don’t know if any of you have been going through changes in your lives right now, but in the last few years I’ve come to some pretty meaningful realizations — many of them revolving around the fact that I got a lot of things wrong in my past.

Today, I went through my entire library, and threw out books that just don’t align with who I am and who I want to be.

I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves.

In no way is this post designed to put anyone down if you’re into this stuff, because I think we are all on our own journey, and I love everyone regardless of where they might be at. But right now, it’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light.

Conclusion

Kat Von D has a large following and large influence. One comment left on her baptism post reveals her impact:

Wow so inspiring. I’ve always looked up to you and this is guiding me to the light and [to] let go of occultism. Wow.

Her public declaration of faith in Jesus is a wonderous cause for celebration on many levels, including her occult background, Hollywood celebrity status and ability to point others to the hope she has found in Jesus.

In summing up Kat Von D’s baptism, perhaps no reply was as succinct or pointed as this one:

“Another domino has dropped. It’s time for Revival in the US!”

Indeed, and if we broaden the scope and replace “US” with “world”, Kat Von D would now surely agree.

a comment that I heard recently regarding most recent world events: “Things are not falling apart but they are falling into place” is also very relevant when a new birth (being born again) takes place in just one individual that has found out that Jesus Christ’s arms are still open to embrace you, that His precious blood has not lost it’s cleansing power to rid you of all your past & present sin & God’s Holy Spirit is in & around you to give you a victorious & fruitful life to influence others to find their forgiveness, rest & peace with God The Creator & sustainer of all life!

I will send this to my daughters . Their deceased stepfather was introduced to Wicca by one of Australias foremost witches (twice on Channel 7, South Australia ). By the time he met me he was no longer a Warlock. When I would not go to Mass, he insisted on driving me there . He refused to introduce one of my daughters to his former Wicca contacts. A baptised Presbyterian, he died in God’s Love , had a lovely Christian funeral and we will be buried together in hallowed ground ( in my pre-paid tomb ). Years ago a school-friend introduced my daughters to a Ouija Board and they got a terrible fright !

    Nothing is impossible for God!
He works all the time, and whether it is one life at a time that is transformed, or larger revival events, we can see it happening. How encouraging!
    He deserves all the glory!
    Well done young sister!
