Day 13 – Chosen by Love for Adoption
And in love He chose us before He laid the foundation of the universe! Because of His great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in His eyes with an unstained innocence. For it was always in His perfect plan to adopt us as His delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that His tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify His grace — for the same love He has for the Beloved, Jesus, He has for us. And this unfolding plan brings Him great pleasure!
~ Ephesians 1:4-6 (TPT)
Adoption is God’s idea, and it is a great idea! God wants every child to be embraced by someone who will care for them, protect and provide for and most of all love them. His perfect plan can also mean, “He marked out our horizon [destiny] beforehand.”
The church is the ideal place to ‘raise up adoption’ by finding precious couples and families to take care of those who might otherwise face death by abortion or other tragic circumstances. God has placed the desire to adopt a child on many hearts, even those who have children. The number of children given up for adoption in Australia has dropped dramatically to a precious few, since the year after abortion was legalised over fifty-four years ago, and now viable babies’ lives are being taken.
There has been a lot of fear attached to adoption, yet countless adults who are adoptees are very grateful and love their adopted family. There are many ways that those in the local church can support those who adopt — lightening the load as issues arise through extra prayer, financial help, babysitting, practical help, and counselling.
The old adage “it takes a village to raise a child” can be seen to work particularly well among those who love the Lord, and His family, who are willing to spread his love wider. It is like growing a garden — it will take time and persistent hard work to establish, but will take root and flourish. God has been raising up people to assist those wanting to adopt; one successful example in the USA is Christian Adoption Consultants. It would be great to see similar raised up across Australia.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for those who have courageously given up their child for adoption, and for those who have generously given of themselves to adopt a child. Lord, we ask for grace to help those who have this call on their lives hidden in their hearts to take steps to find the connections of children into families by Your Holy Spirit.
Lord, shift the mindset of our culture fed by media and movies — that adoption is fraught with disaster. Lord, we release Your perfect love to drive out fear about adoption. We ask that every child be given the gift of life and welcomed into the arms of a loving family; we rebuke all spirits of rejection and abandonment operating through the adoptive process.
Lord, we ask for grace to help Your church rise up with safe, effective adoption assistance so that children will be partakers of Your heart of love and mercy through adoption. Lord, wash the reputation of Your church clean and raise her up to be the most diligent and pure advocates for all children — including those in the womb. Let love motivate and sustain this powerful redemptive work in Jesus’ wonderful Name, Amen.
Prayer Points:
- It is crucial for Australians to stand united and shout out for the Babies Born Alive through failed abortion to be given life-saving treatment and care and not left to die. Pray for the Senate to vote for the Babies Born Alive Bill. Senator Matt Canavan, Senator Ralph Babet and Senator Alex Antic have co-signed a bill to give babies born alive from abortion a right to life. No More Delay! Let this become a loud election issue for this government. Hear firsthand a midwife’s grief and a Born Alive after a failed abortion story.
- Pray the Love Adelaide — Walk for Life 2024 on Feb 10th from 10am-12pm will grow in momentum to double last year — that nothing will hinder the church standing against legalised abortion, to add their strength and support to end the abortion crisis in our nation and beyond. Pray for health for everyone, especially the overseas guest speaker, doors of favour to open, more volunteers for the walk and the weather to be favourable.
- We pray for every state and territory of Australia to recognise that every life is a gift from God — for the church to arise in the cause of defending life in the womb from the horror of abortion and come together to stand for life. For greater numbers to be in attendance at the “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 10 February 2024 and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, “March for the Babies” Melbourne, Love Sydney Walk for Life — date TBA, Perth’s rally for Life in May, and for all Territories and States to join in and hold a Walk for Life in their city/region.
- Even though every state in Australia has changed Legislation to allow abortion up to birth, we can all work together to change such legislation. It’s all about numbers — Pray that we unify and work together to make abortion unthinkable in Australia. Pray for the number of awakened righteous politicians and leaders in every sphere of influence to increase, and be empowered and emboldened to change the laws and influence this generation with the truth about abortion.
- Ask for many more churches across the nation to be aware of the women in their midst who are suffering through having had an abortion. To have spiritual discernment to identify women with a crisis pregnancy who need the help, hope and love of Jesus to keep the baby or choose adoption into a loving home. That every church be a trusted place of mercy and compassion to be known and operating as Houses of Refuge for the unborn and families. For Hubs of Love to be established in every city and town in the nation.
‘And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.’
~ Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
May God Bless you as you pray these 21 Days of Compassion and Mercy for the Unborn.

Identificational repentance is a very powerful corporate, priestly (1 Peter 2:9) prayer weapon, in which believers stand in the gap for their family, church, city, or nation by naming the sins that have shaped a people, confessing them before God, and turning from those patterns in heartfelt humility.

Earlier this month, Robbie Katter introduced a disallowance motion seeking to halt the LNP’s regulation change to allow midwives to prescribe the abortion pill. One issue sits at the very heart of the matter — that Health Minister Tim Nicholls failed to address.

I hear so very little about adoption that I wonder whether it happens at all in Australia. It bothers me that so many people choose to pay $1000 to produce children of their own. As a Christian, I would not want to be supporting companies that promote babies as something any “couple” can have. If a husband and wife couple is unable to conceive perhaps God might want them to consider taking in other people’s children. I feel we are flying too near to the designer baby mentality. I have witnessed an ungodly self-centredness among some people willing to spend $1000 in an effort to conceive.
