Day 15 – Compassion Today

4 February 2024

3.8 MINS

For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me in.
~ Psalm 27:10 (ESV)

Many times, as we stand for life and mention the objective of “no legalised abortion in Australia,” we are immediately confronted with well-meaning people who bring up exceptions – circumstances that make it ok to have an abortion. Examples: An abortion is needed to save the life of the mother; or for the mental health of the mother in the case of rape. These are very real issues, but are far less common than we are led to believe.

Sadly, we have many more hurting women who cannot resolve their decision to abort, even though they were told medically they should abort. Many women who were raped or abandoned when they discovered they were pregnant had great courage to continue the pregnancy and give life to the child even though that child was conceived through traumatic circumstances. Tragically, if the mother must have a surgical abortion because the pregnancy has advanced, she will have to deliver a dead baby – how tremendously damaging is this to her mental health?

Quote from Ryan Bomberger about his life circumstance: “At aged 13 years, after I found out I was conceived from rape, it was at first devastating — yet then I realised my birth mother… chose to be stronger than her circumstance – she loved me enough to give me the chance to love and be loved!” Ryan was adopted and given the gift of life by his birth mother, a difficult, courageous choice, that has now a lasting benefit to many! Listen to his story here.

Worship:

Prayer:

Father, thank You that today, there are many hearing the call to take courageous steps to save the lives of the unborn. Thank You for the women and men who are stepping out — saying yes to giving the gift of life that firstly came from You! Thank You for those who are longing to adopt or foster children who know the great value of family.

Lord, in Your mercy, send out many labourers into the harvest to bring deliverance from this culture of death. Thank You for the multitudes, like Ryan Bomberger, who are yet to be born, that will not die but live to bring you glory and join the fight for life.

Lord, bless those who are patiently awaiting a child in their arms, comfort them, and miraculously bring adoptions and conceptions right now as the first fruits of the multitudes to come.

In Your mercy, heal those in our nation suffering from mental illness and ill health — those who have broken hearts and don’t know Your hope. Lift the trauma off those who have suffered abuse/rape. Lord, cause all to experience Your love, that You are with them. May Your people be welcoming them, bringing Your deliverance and mercy to find freedom and joy that can only be found in You! In Your blessed name, we pray, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Prayer Points:

  • It is crucial for Australians to stand united and shout out for the Babies Born Alive through failed abortion to be given life-saving treatment and care and not left to die. Pray for the Senate to vote for the Babies Born Alive Bill. Senator Matt Canavan, Senator Ralph Babet and Senator Alex Antic have co-signed a bill to give babies born alive from abortion a right to life. No More Delay! Let this become a loud election issue for this government. Hear firsthand a midwife’s grief and a Born Alive after a failed abortion story.
  • Pray the Love Adelaide — Walk for Life 2024 on Feb 10th from 10am-12pm will grow in momentum to double last year — that nothing will hinder the church standing against legalised abortion, to add their strength and support to end the abortion crisis in our nation and beyond. Pray for health for everyone, especially the overseas guest speaker, doors of favour to open, more volunteers for the walk and the weather to be favourable.
  • We pray for every state and territory of Australia to recognise that every life is a gift from God — for the church to arise in the cause of defending life in the womb from the horror of abortion and come together to stand for life. For greater numbers to be in attendance at the “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 10 February 2024 and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, “March for the Babies” Melbourne, Love Sydney Walk for Life — date TBA, Perth’s rally for Life in May, and for all Territories and States to join in and hold a Walk for Life in their city/region.
  • Even though every state in Australia has changed Legislation to allow abortion up to birth, we can all work together to change such legislation. It’s all about numbers — Pray that we unify and work together to make abortion unthinkable in Australia. Pray for the number of awakened righteous politicians and leaders in every sphere of influence to increase, and be empowered and emboldened to change the laws and influence this generation with the truth about abortion.
  • Ask for many more churches across the nation to be aware of the women in their midst who are suffering through having had an abortion. To have spiritual discernment to identify women with a crisis pregnancy who need the help, hope and love of Jesus to keep the baby or choose adoption into a loving home. That every church be a trusted place of mercy and compassion to be known and operating as Houses of Refuge for the unborn and families. For Hubs of Love to be established in every city and town in the nation.

‘And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.’
~ Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
