Defend Christian Freedom in Australia
With the Federal Government intending to drastically restrict Christian freedom, it’s time to make a stand for it – and indeed for the freedom of all.
The Australian Federal Government is currently considering proposals that would significantly harm religious freedom. These changes would drastically undermine the ability of Christians to practice their faith in private and public.
Currently, Christian schools have provisions in the law that allow them to teach biblical views on marriage, sexuality and gender. Exemptions in the Sex Discrimination Act allow Christian schools and churches to hire staff who will uphold and be able to teach and endorse biblical morality and model that behaviour.
However, as previously reported on the Daily Declaration, the Federal Government, through its ‘Religious Discrimination Bill’, intends to remove these exemptions.
Even worse, the Prime Minister has recently indicated he is open to working in partnership with the Greens to pass this legislation. The Greens are openly hostile to Christian faith. For example, they want all funding to Christian schools to cease.
Watch as Daily Declaration author and Sky News host James Macpherson discusses these grave concerns about this below.
Freedoms and Rights Come From Christianity
It’s Christianity that has given rise to the freedoms and rights so many Australians take for granted. Undermining the right of Christians to practice their faith in private and public will have the inevitable effect of undermining the freedoms and rights that Christianity gave the modern world in the first place.
Taking away the rights of Christians is detrimental to everyone.
Religious freedom is a bedrock of a free and fair society. Individuals and communities should be allowed to live out their faith without fear of discrimination or persecution.
The current Labor Government, sadly, takes the view that religious freedom should be kept to a minimum. This is in direct conflict with Article 18 in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states:
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
Christians (and people of all faiths) must voice their strong concerns about the proposed Religious Discrimination Bill and amendments to the Sex Discrimination Act.
Christian Freedom is Good for All
Paul wrote to Timothy that we should pray for those in authority, that “we may lead a quiet and peaceful life” (1 Tim 2:1–2). If the gospel can freely go out, it creates a greater opportunity for everyone to hear about the free gift of eternal life that is available to all (1 Tim 2:3–4). And this is good and very pleasing to God (1 Tim 2:3).
It’s time to make a stand for Christian freedom – and indeed the freedom of all.
In reality, everyone has a religion or worldview, whether that be Christian, secular humanism, Islam, paganism, etc. People differ in their ethics and behaviour because of their different worldviews. In a truly pluralistic society, we must respect the individual’s right to hold and practice the worldview/religion of their choosing.
This should be what religious freedom is all about. Sadly, under the current proposal, it is not.
We strongly urge you to voice your concerns by writing to the Prime Minister, Opposition Leader, Attorney-General, Shadow Attorney–General and your Local MP. Click the green button below for more information and to email your politicians.
Yours for Christian freedom for the good of all,
Samuel Hartwich & Warwick Marsh

I contacted all ministers and received a non reply from the prime minister that I shouldnot have contacted him, but the Attorney General! This is is not the 1st time I have contacted several labor ministers to be either ignored or told to contact only my local member. Buyer beware1
Thank you Warwick and Sam for emphasizing the attempt to rob our nation of religious freedom rights. It is extraordinary that our Prime Minister has played such a role in all this and used the Greens as his ally. No wonder our PM did not swear on the Bible when he came into power.
Instead of preserving what has worked well with Godly and ethical guidelines that protect citizens and children, we see a godless wrecking ball trying to smash down all that has fought for in earlier years.
It remains an ongoing attack from ‘the top’ which will destroy the infrastructure of our democracy if we don’t act and pray. May many pray to stop this destructive plan and be heard as we can see the danger and harm done, and endless court cases needed to fight back.
May God in His mercy prevent the Religious Discrimination bill getting through as we pray for and forgiveness of those who seek to destroy our Christians foundations in schools and gagging parents and teachers, instead of building up Australia.
