Stick Together
Australian singer-songwriter Colin Buchanan is a national living treasure. He’s an ARIA, APRA and nine times Golden Guitar winner, ABC TV Play School presenter, Australia’s number one kids’ Christian artist, sought-after co-writer and the Bucko of Bucko & Champs’ classic Aussie Christmas — an Australian institution! He’s even recorded a hilarious version of My Dad’s Better Than Your Dad, an old song my friends and I used to jokingly sing to each other in the schoolyard.
My family and I are BIG Colin Buchanan fans! So when I logged into Spotify the other week and saw Colin had released a new song, Stick Together, I immediately had a listen.

In the shadows
When you start to slip
And you feel like you’re letting them down
Stick together
When it’s game on
And your strength’s gone
They look to you
But inside you’re crumbling down
Stick togetherStuff gets broken
Things get spoken
And the cracks begin to show
The hard times just get harder
When you face them on your own
When you’re staring down the barrel
And you don’t know what to do
Stick together
Stick togetherWe’re all different
Got our own skin
And our own spin
We’re all just working it out
Stick together
Got to hold on
For the long run
Do to others
‘Cos that’s how we’re going to get through
Stick togetherStuff gets broken
Things get spoken
And the cracks begin to show
The hard times just get harder
When you face them on your own
When you’re staring down the barrel
And you don’t know what to do
Stick together
Stick togetherSay I love you
Say I’m sorry
Or say nothing
When that’s all that needs to be said
Stick together
In this moment
And tomorrow
Be an echo
That rings on after we’re gone
Stick togetherStuff gets broken
Things get spoken
And the cracks begin to show
The hard times just get harder
When you face them on your own
When you’re staring down the barrel
And you don’t know what to do
Or you’re holding out on someone
Who’s reaching out for you
We won’t be here forever
We’ve got to help each other through
Stick together
Stick together
Stick together
Stick together
I’ve made many mistakes in my life, and there’s a high probability that I’ll make many, many more. As Colin so poignantly sings, I’ve stared down the proverbial barrel and not known what to do more times than I can remember. But by the grace of God, I’ve stuck together with my wife, family and friends, and for that, I am forever grateful.
This Thursday 25 April is ANZAC Day, the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. What became known as the ‘Anzac legend’ has become an important part of the identity for both nations. 25 April is a day all of us can recognise the incredible sacrifices of the Anzacs and the ways in which they stuck together for us.
If you’re reading this and you’re not sure what to do, just remember: Stick Together.
Lovework
Do yourself a favour and check out Colin Buchanan’s music. If you’ve got younger kids, the whole family can enjoy his catchy songwriting, zany antics and hilarious videos. If you can too, take your kids along to a dawn service this ANZAC Day Thursday 25 April and honour our fallen soldiers. Lest we forget.
Yours for Sticking Together,
Nathaniel Marsh

The Australian economy is tanking. A large part of the cause is government spending, and yet Labor treasurer Jim Chalmers believes all is well. Rather than motivate businesses to build growth, Labor has chosen to further bloat the bureaucracy instead.

How much worse things get in Australia, in large measure, depends on the Labor leaders running the nation and most states. Ugly antisemitism seems doomed to simply worsen if they remain in power.

My stand is against the treatment of Israel by the Australian government and the United Nations. The Australian government would rather reward the terrorism of October 7 and has continually pushed for a two-state solution, when all the terrorists want is a one-state solution.

What is the difference between 9 November 1938 in Germany and 6 December 2024 in Melbourne? Nothing, except some 86 years. In both cases, Jewish synagogues were set alight. The truth is, Jewish people no longer feel safe in this country.

Like the early disciples, may I encourage you to keep your prayers Scripture-based and Scriptural. Declaring God’s Word in prayer will build your own faith and that of those around you, releasing His power into situations that seem completely impossible.

For Todd Carney, a player whose NRL career was as much defined by his talent on the field as his troubles off it, this new chapter offers a story of redemption that resonates deeply with anyone who believes in the power of transformation.
