Day 29: They Conquered Kingdoms and Worked Righteousness
Intention
To reverse the wickedness imposed by the enemy and establish righteousness in people’s hearts through the gospel.
Scripture
“And what more can I say? Time is too short for me to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets, who by faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the raging of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, gained strength in weakness, became mighty in battle, and put foreign armies to flight.”
– Hebrews 11:32–34
Reflection
Throughout history, the Bible records the people of God performing amazing feats of courage. In obedience to God’s command and filled mightily with the Holy Spirit, God’s people turned kingdoms on their heads and established righteous nations.
We have all read of the conflict between good and evil over the centuries since Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, indeed God Himself, came to live among us. That conflict was also evident in the times of Noah and Abraham through to the coming of Christ. Throughout this entire time, God’s people contended with the attempts by the evil one to destroy them.
We are called to imitate the prophets and these former heroes of faith.
Daniel 11:32 clearly states that the people who know their God will be strong and do exploits in the last days. I do not think that many doubt that these are the last days. We find ourselves in the time in which God’s people become mighty in battle.
So how are we to become “mighty in battle”? With the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. This Word is both a message about salvation and a declaration of the soon-coming king.
Watch the below three-minute video to grasp my heart for the gospel (Word of God) by releasing others to share the good news.
Many have embraced the heinous lies of the current age. Only the sword of the Spirit, the gospel, can cut through these lies and make known the truth in the hearts of men and women.
God’s people must continually engage with sinners to awaken them to the peril they face and the salvation God offers them through Jesus Christ.
This is not a task for the few. It is a call to all of us. We are all to go to our friends, family, neighbours and strangers across our land and declare the truth of God’s Word and the gospel of their salvation.
Let us do so while there is still time.
Let us be strong. Let us tell others about Jesus every day. Psalm 96:2–3 says, “Proclaim his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations.”
This can be done with training and prayerful preparation. We give glory to God that more and more people are joining in with Australia for Jesus to learn how to present the gospel and to bring many to faith.
Prayer is a big part of this – but action must follow. That’s why Australia for Jesus exists. You can join with many who are now intentionally and compassionately engaging others with the gospel.

Prayer
Dear Father,
We rejoice that You are calling Your saints to uphold the Word of God in these last days.
We rejoice that many people are discovering how to share Christ effectively with others. We rejoice that people in considerable numbers are receiving the gospel. Many are coming to faith, Father, but we need more consistent labourers to go out into our community and bring the good news about salvation to others.
Strengthen us for the battle. Grant us victory over the evil one who hinders us. May we be valiant for the work and see Your mighty hand bring salvation to people in our land.
Amen.
