The Hearts Behind Dads4Kids
Dads4Kids founders Warwick and Alison Marsh have massive hearts. As their eldest son, I’ve witnessed first-hand their Phar Lap-sized tickers for Australia and the World. It’s right there in the hand-drawn blue heart of the Dads4Kids logo. The other organisation they founded is called Australian Heart Ministries. It’s who they are, and it runs, in fact pumps, through everything they do.
Their passion to encourage the families of Australia is what motivated them in 1990 to pack my three brothers and me, some music equipment, and our belongings into a Toyota Coaster bus towing a caravan and set off around Australia on a twelve-month adventure of a lifetime. My singing sister was born in 1992, and the music ministry travelling adventures developed and continued throughout the ’90s into the 2000s.
Dad and Mum didn’t know when they took that leap of faith in 1990 that they would end up with five musical children, countless kilometres travelled, and two big-hearted charitable organisations that reach out across Australia and the world (plus ten grandchildren!) It’s been quite an adventure, but the journey continues.
Saving Lives
Somewhere along the way, a flame was lit inside my heart, and now I’m honoured to work alongside them as part of the amazing team at Dads4Kids. The constant theme throughout it all has been their incredible hearts for people and families, and specifically for the fathers of Australia. Especially those doing it tough.
After reading Dad’s “Three Keys to Keep You Alive If You Feel Like a Dead Man Walking” article last week, a homeless father at the end of his rope in Adelaide reached out. He shared how he was a dead man walking and how he was planning to end his life on Sunday morning. But he read the Newsletter, watched Andrew Gray’s moving video and decided to reach out.
The huge-hearted Warwick Marsh kicked into gear. After speaking and praying together, some temporary accommodation was organised. Dad was able to connect the gentleman with some wonderful supporters of Dads4Kids in the Adelaide area. Our new friend was no longer a dead man walking. You can hear the full story and find out more by watching the Dads4Kids Breakthrough Webinar video.
The work of building men, growing fathers and changing generations continues. Our heart dream to transform the nation by inspiring fathers to help their children be the best they can be lives on. This is why Dads4Kids exists, and it’s why we need your help before 30 June.
