Divine Intervention

Day 7: Divine Intervention in Our Time of Need

7 October 2024

3.2 MINS

Intention

To reassure our hearts that even amid global turmoil, God can intervene to sovereignly orchestrate revival in our nation and around the globe.

Scripture

“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call to him while he is near. Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, so he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will freely forgive.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

“For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return there without saturating the earth and making it germinate and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat, so my word that comes from my mouth will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.”

– Isaiah 55:6–11

Reflection

How do we live in an uncertain world? One that seems confused about the direction for the future? A world that turns its back on God and pursues unrighteousness?

When we reflect on the decline in our society in Australia, the USA, and the globe, we can become concerned about the future. Our thoughts can become preoccupied with the societal and political upheavals around us.

Over the past few months, God has been speaking to me regarding who He is. Regardless of what is happening around us, He is still the great “I Am Who I Am” (Exodus 3:14) of the Bible.

The words that have been resounding in my spirit for months have been “sovereignly orchestrated” and “divine intervention”. We can take great courage. God is still able to reach a dying individual and a dying world.

He is Adonai, meaning the sovereign master, owner or Lord. He is the ruler and king who governs the universe. Psalm 103:19 powerfully proclaims, “The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all”.

He is the One who will bring us up out of afflictions. He divinely intervenes in our darkest hour of need.

We know that He doesn’t change. Hebrews 13:8 tells us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever”. In Malachi 3:6, the prophet records God declaring, “Because I, the Lord, have not changed, you descendants of Jacob have not been destroyed”.

God intervened for humanity by giving up His greatest gift, Jesus, to redeem us and make a way for us to be made clean, forgiven and restored.

He can intervene again for individuals, families, communities and entire nations. Even amid global turmoil.

He is the great “I Am”.

Prayer

Lord, we know You don’t change. You are the same yesterday, today and forever. We ask that Your Spirit brings our nation Australia, the great southland of the Holy Spirit, to her knees.

We ask for a Spirit of conviction to come upon people to repent and ask for forgiveness. We know You can divinely intervene in our times of need.

We are thankful that You have us in the palm of Your hands. We’re grateful that You will continue to sovereignly orchestrate revival in our nation and around the globe.

In the name of Jesus, amen.
