21 Days of Prayer for Life Official Launch 2025

Ending the Tragedy of Tragedies: We’ve Officially Launched 21 Days of Prayer for Life 2025!

17 January 2025

2.4 MINS

On Wednesday night, the Canberra Declaration officially launched its prayer and fasting campaign for life (the unborn).

While the 21 days of prayer and fasting begins this Sunday, 19 January, we set aside last Wednesday night to pray for God’s blessing and empowerment for this crucial time ahead.

The evening was both tragic and brilliant. Tragic because the topic (abortion) is probably the greatest moral issue of our time. But brilliant because the information shared (by special guest Jodie Pickard from Love Australia) gave inspiration and hope for a better future for children, mothers and fathers.

Watch below as the Canberra Declaration welcomes this year’s prayer campaign for life!

Hope Amidst the Tragedy of Tragedies

As mentioned in the video above, each year in Australia, around 90,000 babies lose their lives to abortion.

When we consider what that means for the 50+ years that abortion has been legal in Australia, we find that over three million children have been killed.

The number of those killed in all the wars that Australia has been involved in during its history (e.g. both world wars, Vietnam, etc.) comes to around 108,000 people.

This means that we lose about the same number of Australians to abortion each year as we have to all the wars we’ve ever been involved in.

This is a tragedy of tragedies.

But there is hope.

As Jodie Pickard, the founder of Love Australia, who joined us for the official launch, said, the church is the answer.

Jodie shared how the church is needed to help women (and men) in need of long-term support in raising children from unplanned pregnancies.

Through prayer, we can see the church raised up, the spiritual battle won, and the right people placed by God into our parliaments to see abortion repealed in our nation for the glory of God.

Our weekly Zoom prayer meetings for life (the unborn) begin this Sunday night at 8 PM (AEDT). Each of our Sunday, Monday and Wednesday night prayer meetings will be dedicated to praying for life during these 21 days.

Please pray, fast and join us as you can!

Prayer Resource: 21 Days of Devotionals

As we mentioned in our previous email, Love Australia is releasing 21 devotionals to help us intercede before God for the unborn.

There are two ways you can access these devotionals.

First, you can have these devotionals delivered directly to your email inbox. If you’d prefer this option, simply email the word ‘prayer’ to info@loveaustralia.org.au, and you will be added to the mailing list.

The second way is to read them on the Daily Declaration. Each devotional will be published on the front page of Australia’s largest Christian news site as well as our dedicated 21 days of prayer for life page. You can find this by clicking on the ‘Prayer’ tab at the top of the site, and selecting ’21 Days of Prayer for Life 2025′.

If you are already subscribed to the Daily Declaration, then you will receive a link to the devotional every morning in that email. If you’d like to sign up for the Daily Declaration, please do so by clicking the green button below! (Please note, this will sign you up to receive emails with each day’s news articles, not just the devotionals.)

We look forward to this important time of interceding for the unborn! As Phil Keaggy sings, “Who will speak up for the little ones?” Watch his moving music video below.

Together, let’s end the tragedy of abortion.

Yours for life,

Samuel Hartwich & Warwick Marsh

Shocking statistics! I never cry except when I see the pictures ! My anti-abortion views started in 1948 when I was 4 ,as I knelt beside my mother’s bed who’d nearly died of an abortion. At age 15 at a State school ,I studied Physiology. My textbook had large pictures of a child’s development beginning at one month, etc. I suspect teaching of this is banned in today’s evil society. As my Christian Duty I must write to many MPs opposing Abortion/ Murder . I am an ex-S. Australian. This evil in OZ started in SA under Don Dunstan , and, should end first in SA !

Could you verify something that I was told years ago that was reported to have been said by Mother Teresa when she went to America to receive an Award.?
She said the poorest countries in the world are those who have their own children killed by abortion?
When Hilary Clinton asked her how long it might be before America would have a woman President , Mother Teresa is reported to have replied that maybe the woman so destined had been aborted!!
When an American Jesuit was verbally abused for publicly speaking against abortion and asked what right any man, let alone a celibate, had to speak on the subject, he replied “Madam I have every right because I too used to be a baby.”

Thank you Warwick and Alison, Jodie and the ‘Love Australia’ team and Kym and Nel. The interview revealed so much. These statistics need to be heard. Nearly 90.000 babies die a year in Australia. Overall 3 million babies have died within 50 yrs since abortions were made legal in Australia. If the statistics are compared to the deaths in WW1 and WW2 and Vietnam there were 108.000 soldiers died whereas in Australia 90.000 died each year by abortion. That has to strike each conscience.
Thank you for sharing the way the Houses of Refugee can be used to support women who are pregnant.
May many churches join in this move to help the unborn, to educate a post Christian generation and to realize that God regards all life as sacred.
May God honour this 21 days of prayer and fasting and many sign up for the devotionals
Most of all many hear that ‘Love Australia’ is hoping to reach many more churches so others help in this fight for life and join in prayer as its a spiritual battle that impacts all churches, all families, society, all cultures and races. As we pray through and inform others may God move in our state and Federal Govts… We have a responsibility to let others know God.
Thank you for the moving song: Phil Keaggy singing, “Who will speak up for the little ones?”
