Day 15 Yeshua's Longing

Yeshua’s Longing: Day 15

18 May 2025

2.7 MINS

Intention

To know Yeshua’s heartbeat, which longs for the lost, and to emulate that same desire and love.

Scripture

“Yerushalayim [Jerusalem]! Yerushalayim! You kill the prophets! You stone those who are sent to you!

“How often I wanted to gather your children, just as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, but you refused!

“Look! God is abandoning your house to you, leaving it desolate.

“For I tell you, from now on, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of ADONAI [the Lord].’”

– Matthew 23:37–39 (CJB)

Reflection

Acts 1:8 says that we are to be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and to the uttermost parts of the earth.

Wherever we live is our ‘Jerusalem’. Being His witnesses begins within our own communities: our families, neighbours, local shops, and the people we encounter every day.

When Yeshua highlights a person to me that He is trying to reach, I often approach the person and say, “Can I just say hello for a minute? My name is Nel.” This frequently leads to a brief conversation and prayer. I am a seed sower.

During the 1972 Munich Olympics, I engaged in literature evangelism alongside thousands of volunteers from Youth With A Mission (YWAM). People from many nations travelled to Munich. I would stop someone and ask which country they were from. If, for example, they were from Kenya, I would search for a booklet in either English or Swahili for that person and hand it to them. The Word of God is the seed.

My first pastor, Reginald Klimionok, who was also a great evangelist, used to say that there should always be food involved when there is outreach.

One of the best outreach events at our local church was when the men had a barbecue on the footpath outside the church. Many locals passed by, paused, enjoyed a sausage, and chatted. It was a great outreach.

God’s heart beats daily for the lost person who crosses your path. The secret is to pray and then act. We are His hands extended. Let His longing become our hearts’ longing as well.

Your suburb and city can be transformed through prayer walking, prayer driving, and distributing gospel literature in letterboxes. You are a change agent and can contribute to transforming your region for His Kingdom’s sake.

May my region say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Prayer

Father, today I come to you through Your Beloved Son, Yeshua, and ask that You would make me an effective witness. Keep me sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and may my words bring life to the hearer. Let Your love flow through me in a tangible way to reach those whom You are calling.

Amen.
