‘Anti-Semitism Has No Place in Australia’ Blah, Blah, Blah
Anthony Albanese has responded to a string of anti-semitic attacks in Melbourne over the weekend with his signature verbal shrug…
“Anti-Semitism has no place in Australia.”
Thank God. I was worried he might say it did have a place! (Insert massive eye roll here)
“Anti-Semitism has no place in Australia.”
And again…
“Anti-Semitism has no place in Australia.”
Wording Anti-Semitism Out of Existence
If we say it often enough, maybe anti-Semitism will get the hint and leave the country. That appears to be the government’s counter-terror strategy: word it out of existence.
This stirring phrase, dusted off for the umpteenth time, now feels less like a statement of principle and more like the nation’s most tedious ringtone…
You hear it, you groan, and then you wait for it to finish before carrying on with your day – which, incidentally, is exactly what the Prime Minister does.
At the weekend we had:
- A Synagogue set on fire as Jews ate dinner inside
- An Israeli restaurant attacked by masked men as diners ran for their lives
- A second restaurant, opposite the Holocaust Museum, vandalised with anti-Jew slurs
- Cars graffitied with anti-semitic slogans
“No Place in Australia”: Government’s All-Purpose Political Air Freshener
Thank God the PM has clarified that anti-Semitism has no place in Australia. Imagine if it did!
What I don’t understand, though, is how anti-Semitism keeps taking place even as the PM insists it doesn’t have a place.
It’s almost as if the PM’s words carry about as much weight and are about as effective as the “No Junk Mail” sticker on my letterbox during election season.
To be fair, Albanese is pretty busy trashing the US alliance right now, so doesn’t have time for more than platitudes when it comes to the small matter of keeping Jewish Australians safe.
Besides, it’s not like he’s doing nothing. He’s doing something very important. He’s condemning.
It’s just that condemning without consequences is like shaking your fist at the weather – satisfying for a moment and yet utterly pointless forever.
And let’s be honest, “This has no place in Australia” has become the Albanese Government’s all-purpose political air freshener.
Racism? No place.
Misogyny? No place.
Homophobia? No place.
Fiscal restraint? No place.
Albo’s never actually said fiscal restraint has no place in Australia, but if you’ve seen the deficit you’ll know it to be true. I digress.
You start to wonder if anything does have a place in Australia anymore, besides earnest platitudes and overpaid consultants.
Meanwhile, the Jewish community is left watching the PM play a game of anti-Semitic whack-a-mole using a pool noodle and a copy of the Human Rights Commission charter.
“We’re deeply concerned,” he says, reading from the same dog-eared script, as yet another Jewish suburb is terrorised.
At some point, someone in Canberra may realise that meaningful leadership involves more than issuing sterile condemnations.
But until then, the Prime Minister will continue to bravely insist – against mounting evidence – that hate speech and intimidation “have no place” here, even as they routinely take place here.
It’s a disgrace.

Thank you James…our PM need much prayer, as does the whole Federal Govt and espcially Victoria’s Govt. All will give an account to God finally. …May they use the Constition as a guide, and have a consceince restored and not show bias towards any enthnic group who is being violated, endangered, and hunted down.
May the PM and Govts also consider it their duty to protect Jewish citizens who have come here to live in peace. Many escaped the Holocaust and never want to re- live those years of persecution again.
It’s a pity that Albo’s fence doesn’t have some barbed wire in it!

It’s only approximately 700 days since Hamas invaded Israel. Let’s not expect Albo to be in too much of a hurry to utter any specific condemnations of who is responsible for all of the attacks on Jews and their property in Australia. Quite possibly the esafety commissioner might accuse him of ‘hate speech’ if he did.
The phrase ‘Never again is now’ came into being to stop any bias, killing of or cruelty to Jewish people after the Holocaust…For our society it should mean there is legal back up (arrests, fines and jail sentences as needed) for those who practise anti semitism, so they understand any acts of violence or words/slander is wrong.
May there also be more education in the schools, as this generation has not learnt what really went on in Hitler’s time and most have no idea over 6 million Jews died as Hitler intended to wipe out all from the face of the earth (This same mandate is what Iran regime, and proxies like The Hamas, the Hezbollah and Yemen and Syrian Jihadists also agree with, while Russia, N Korea and Turkey regimes also support these proxies.)
May the laws in Australia be designed to truly protect Jewish people in reality, and not just as a gesture of empty words. This would mean a form of ‘loving thy neighbour’ with police and legal back up so there are no more attacks on synagogues, restaurants, homes, cars or Jewish people and a true welcome to our country.
